5.0 out of 5 stars Working fine for me
I'm using mine to switch absolutely every critical voice and data packet my company produces, and it hasn't let me down yet. The simple web interface has allowed me to do some remote debugging, which is what was important to me. I haven't put the fancier features to use yet.

I'm sure you've all heard the adage, "If something seems too good to be true, it probably isn't" - well that applies to the NetGear FS726TNA.

This is the second FS726 I have bought, and they both are rock-solid performers for the price. Never down, nice VLAN features, fast enough for most apps. On top of that, they are rack-mountable, easy to configure, and cheap.

4.0 out of 5 stars Goood Switch, misleading description, September 21, 2011

I was looking for a replacement for my 24 port gigabit switch that took a lightning strike. Found this one but after receiving it only has 2 gigabit ports the rest are 10/100, I guess I can live with it but I wouldn't have purchased if the description was more clear. really like the manageability.

I'm sure you've all heard the adage, "If something seems too good to be true, it probably isn't" - well that applies to the NetGear FS726TNA.

It appears to be an attractively priced "smart switch" to use NetGear's terminology, and offers some management capability, including SNMP and STP, we are told, with the addition of a firmware upgrade, available Q2, 2005.

In early September - Q3, 2005 - I bought a pair of them, no SNMP, no STP, the current firmware is buggy and the "management" web server feature hangs, essentially turning it into an unmanaged (dumb?) switch.

Tech support is either clueless on the workings of SNMP or tried to "fast talk" their way around questions, I'm not certain which, but neither bodes well for a user in need of help.

We're now into Q4, 2005, and no sign of the promised upgrade, if what you need is an inexpensive, managed switch, I can not recommend this one.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

About a year after this review was written, after the firmware upgrades were released and did not completely provide the promised functionality, Netgear support contacted me, and replaced both of my FS726TNA switches with FS728TS switches.

The new switches delivered the goods as promised and my faith in Netgear has been renewed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Netgear has not honored their rebate offer., October 14, 2008

I purchased this switch when Netgear was offering a free ipod nano as a rebate. More than two months after submitting my rebate and having it approved, Netgear has still not sent my rebate. I have sent multiple emails and tried to call NetGear and the rebate center directly, but still the rebate has not arrived as promised. Therefore I cannot recommend any product from Netgear as the company does not honor its own terms and conditions.

I am sure the switch itself is very nice, but the company has shady rebate practices.
