I have a separate studio 50 ft off the house and needed to boost the signal to avoid wiring the studio. I got an Amped Wireless range extender, but it is single band and occasionally needed to be reset so I bought this dual band range extender to see if I got a stronger signal and could use the 5G channel. After every possible configuration/placement of the router and range extender and testing the signal strength and internet connection speed, it was obvious that this range extender didn't perform nearly as well as the Amped Wireless range extender. In fact, the Netgear range extender doesn't extend the range any farther than the Netgear router. I'm going back to the Amped Wireless range extender and going to throw this Netgear range extender in the spare parts bin. Others say it worked for them, maybe this one I got is defective...so maybe you'll get lucky if you buy one.

Pros:
1) Very easy to set up
2) Boot or reboot time is short enough compare to Amped's SR20000G
3) Can disable extended network at 2.4GHz, 5GHz or both channels and only use Ethernet port.
4) Has Fastlane technology
5) Has 4 internal antennas. Amped's SR20000G has only two.

Cons:
1) Ethernet ports are not gigabit ones.
2) No USB ports for filie sharing using USB drive.

My setup:
1) Use the range extender to pick up friend's WiFi signals,
2) Set up Fastlane
3) Connect one TP-Link's powerline+WiFi adapter using Ethernet cable to the extender
4) Plug other TP-Link's powerline+WiFi adapter to the wall power outlet at the remote location of the house

I returned the Amped Range Extender SR20000G because when I disabled its wireless extended network and intended only use its gigabyte Ethernet ports to get connection, it just didn't work. Also if you have a multi-partition hard drive connected to its USB port, it would only recognize one partition. The setup with SR20000G is hard too.

This product, or at least the one that I purchased from Deal Fisher through Amazon.com, is sold as "refurbished." It comes with the serial number blacked out. If you have technical support issues and call Netgear, they will keep you on the phone for 15 minutes of all kinds of questions before they finally tell you that you have to pay for tech support. The instructions that they give in their owners manual for configuring the product involve linking to a website that does not exist, but they say that for a fee, they will transfer you to their "GearHead" department, which will sort everything out for you. Don't waste your money on this thing.

I added this to throw my signal from my business, across my backyard into the house. Works great. I have a good signal all through the house now.

Terrible Product. Worked for about a week and then failed. In the future, I will purchase a better wireless router rather than an extender.

There are three great things about this device.

1) The range of the dual band extension is very impressive. Even in the absence of stupid looking plastic antennae sticking up. Great coverage over my entire 3 floor house.

2) The set up using the WPS button was so easy I couldn't believe I was done so soon.

3) The slim design is perfect for stowing it away out of sight. Who needs the antennae - I think they are just for show.

Very highly recommnended.

it works fine so far, no problem.
but confused about warranty period: 30 days or 90 days. per buying contract it is 90 days, but the paper in the shipping box it was 30 days. I guess if the product pass the 90 days, it does not matter any more. So Far it passed 30 days already.
