I have used this network storage unit for almost a year now. Can't really comment on the seller, since I did not purchase it here. The ReadyNAS, though, has proven to be an extremely robust, reliable, and a consistent unit in a very rigorous environment. I have two different NAS devises on my home network - this ReadyNAS and the one from Maxtor. Maxtor is about as good as a doorstop: constantly loosing connection to network, freezing, etc. Those are problematic for any device, of course, but especially so for NAS, since it usually sits in some hole away from your desk. These problems have NEVER happened with ReadyNAS. That means I never have to run down to the basement closet and manually reboot the device, then wait for it to acquire new IP address from router. Try that in a middle of watching a movie being streamed from the NAS to your TV in master bedroom and you'll see why that would get old really fast! That is what I had to do with Maxtor (still do!) and never- with ReadyNAS. That is not even mentioning the benefits of hot-swap technology, drive upograde abilities, superb GUI, etc.Highly recommended. |
