Its great, but has a number of problems,

This review is from: NETGEAR WG111T Super-G Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (Personal Computers)
Although, this is a great deal: easy to setup, easy to install, easy to reset, etc., it does contain many problems.
One problem is that it heats up to quickly, mainly because its through USB, and USB travels really quick, especially if you are running a USB 2.0 port instead of 1.1 port. Another main problem is that it doesn't function well unless you have a netgear router. I got a new router when I renewed my Verizon contract, and decided to get this so I could network my two comptuers without having to open it up. Often times it says that network is unavailable, even though the adapter is receiving fine. When I bought a Netgear router, it worked flawlessly, but if you don't have a netgear router, its a hassle. The size is overall good, and you can either plug it in directly to the USB, or have a cord so that you can wrap it around or hang it on the side of your computer. Netgear has great customer support, even though their lines are often full the wait time is long, they are always there. I've only had one for 2 months, but so far, it really hasn't given me any problems. Just make sure when your not using it, to unplug it, or it will heat up and wear quicker.

Works for 10 days then quits,

My experience, with several repetitions: The adapter, continuously plugged in, continuously on, works for about 10 days, then stops working and drops the connection. It won't restart. The only way to recover is to unplug it, plug in your spare (you do have a spare, of course), and let the Netgear WG111T cool off for a couple of days. Then you plug it in again, and it works for about 10 days...

It will work until you push it. So for example if you try copying files from one PC to another. It drops it's connection and you have to unplug it from the USB and reconnect it. Then it will work until next time it encounters a lot of demand for bandwidth.
I've tried EVERY possible firmware and software update and configuration...it's just a poor design. Check the netgear discussion forums...everyone is having this problem and there is no solution. The unit also overheats. This is my first amazon review and I don't do a lot of complaining. But Neatgear shouldn't even be selling this product and I don't want to see more people get burned.

easy simple solution,

I've had this adapter on my son's desktop for over 6 months. I wanted an easily removable adapter, so I could remove it if internet interfered with homework. The install was fine; I always find it easiest to install updated drivers from the website rather than the install disc. they are always outdated. So I downloaded the drivers onto a jump drive on my pc, then installed them onto his pc. Attached the usb adapter and set windows zero config to run the wireless and it has worked flawlessly ever since. I did not install the Client software that came with the adapter. I use StatBar to monitor my access (freeware). I have not had issues with overheating as mentioned by others. The unit is powered up 10 hours a day. I like having the extension cable so we can aim it towards our router (2wire). I recommend it as a simple upgrade as long as you install only the drivers from the website and use Windows to configure.

The WG111T works great with Netgear products. I have had this product for more than 2 years now and in my opinion its great if used ONLY with a Netgear router -> especially a Rangemax. The router in my house is on the top floor and i'm in the basemant but I still get a 66% signal. But thats damn good compared to when I tried it with a Linksys and Belkin, both of them only gave me a 0-15% max and that was when I was only 25ft away. Buy only if you intend it use it with a Netgear router, and if you have to use it away from the router (like 100ft or more, get the rangemax.)

Good hardware, but buggy software,

After months of trouble-free use, started experiencing system lockups. Took quite a while to figure out the problem didn't come from other hardware or software but from this! Reverting back to Smart-Wizard ver.1.1 solved lockups but connection drops intermittently and reconnect a few seconds later. Out of frustration, disabling Smart-Wizard all together and let Windows handle wireless connectivity; and so far no lockups and no drops for 2 days, very happy!! Other users experiencing this problem should give it a try.

Product and service are junk,

I'm taking it back. The software doesn't work so you have to install through Windows. The drivers (including the new one downloadable from Netgear) cause stop errors and unpredictable reboots of both computers on my network. The drivers are clearly incompatible with XP. The adapter itself overheats. I am VERY dissatisfied with this product and will replace it with another brand.

Constant frusteration - I hate it,
This review is from: NETGEAR WG111T Super-G Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (Personal Computers)
This thing constantly overheats. I have to restart the computer 3 times a day just to reload the drivers. I can't transfer large files across my network, and I can't use P2P without it screwing up and requiring another restart.
Go for it if you just want to browse the web. Anything else? Do not buy this product.

Good Wireless,

The Netgear USB wireless was easy to install and configure. I had it setup and running in less than 5 minutes. So far it has provided far superior connectivity to my wireless network than the previous wireless card I had used in my laptop.
