4.0 out of 5 stars Neuros - Great Product with Add Ons
I've had the 20 gig version of this player for about 2 months and it's great! I was going to buy an ipod - but it didn't do all the bells and whistles I wanted - and the Neuros does. Top on my list is the ability to play my music in my car or at friends houses WITHOUT hooking up wires, or having to have purchased an "accessory". My wife and I take road trips a...

If you are really considering buying this product, go to the manufacturers webpage and read the forums - http://www.neurosaudio.com/community/forum/default.asp You will see that a VERY LARGE percentage of the people who purchased this product had the same problem. When i bought mine it worked fine for the first few weeks (just long enough for me to get about 60-65 gigs...

4.0 out of 5 stars Neuros - Great Product with Add Ons, August 5, 2004

I've had the 20 gig version of this player for about 2 months and it's great! I was going to buy an ipod - but it didn't do all the bells and whistles I wanted - and the Neuros does. Top on my list is the ability to play my music in my car or at friends houses WITHOUT hooking up wires, or having to have purchased an "accessory". My wife and I take road trips a lot and we alternate which car we use. It's great to just grab the Neuros and be able to play music through the cars system wihtout hooking up anything. I have to say I was skeptical about the quality of the FM playback - but it sounds as good as the cars CD player. Neuros claims to have proprietary digital transmsission technology - and my take is that it works! I also use my Neuros to run with and it never skips. The Neuros has other advanced features and seems to be for an enthusiast like me. Last point - you can buy add-on "backpacks" for the Neuros so you have infinate capacity - without paying for an entire new device. Pretty cool. Now my son wants one for college

5.0 out of 5 stars Did you call Neuros Support?, August 5, 2004

Hi Alan,

I'm sorry to hear you had issues with your Neuros. This is not at all typical of a normal Neuros experience. It is normal that the buttons don't work when the USB is plugged in as it is for accessing/copying data from your PC. If you still have your Neuros and want to give us a call, we can probably walk you through your issues and figure out if there are any hardware problems.

Tim

If you are really considering buying this product, go to the manufacturers webpage and read the forums - http://www.neurosaudio.com/community/forum/default.asp You will see that a VERY LARGE percentage of the people who purchased this product had the same problem. When i bought mine it worked fine for the first few weeks (just long enough for me to get about 60-65 gigs of music onto it from different sources) and then the battery quit on me. That is to say, it turns on for a few seconds, wont let me do anything, then turns off. It also will not charge or function when plugged into the AC adaptor. HOWEVER, i managed to get it to run off of USB power long enough to get my music off it again. I have heard that their customer service is awesome, however, i am in Iraq right now and havent had a chance to talk with them. It is really depressing too because this is obviously the most innovative and feature-packed player out there. Plus the 80GB size is hard to beat. Also, if you are considering jogging/running with this thing, good luck, its pretty huge.

Great features on paper...But when you try to use it, you get an error message - I actually got the 40 GB unit. Looks like someone else had the same issue. Straight out of the box the unit will not power up properly.

Customer service has been very responsive, but I am on my second replacement unit. I am having no luck with getting an actual working player ( even the guy I talked to in customer service said they were having many problems with this issue and my replacement unit would take a while to come out since they were waiting for a good batch from the factory). I live in a large city also so the FM transmit thing will probably not work well since most station frequencies are taken. Save your money . I am just glad I didn't shell out the $$ for the 80 gb unit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Faulty from the start!!, May 19, 2006
This review is from: NEUROS AUDIO HD80GB MP3 Digital Audio Computer (Electronics)
See above reviews and seriously reconsider. I have purchased one and it worked for nearly 8 hours while downloading music. Since then it won't even start. It has been sent back and returned....and the thing won't even start up. Support was very helpful at first, but when I called to report the returned product wasn't working...I was immediately fobbed off. Not even an attempt to walk me through any issues, just offering to 'let' me return it for a refund...that will take 2 weeks to refund.

Wanted to avoid the IPod, but this waste of my time just convinces me that it's best to go with what you know.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ambitious gadget, but falls short, August 4, 2004

I was compelled to buy the Neuros 80GB MP3 player for its enormous disk space, and after I had checked out neurosaudio.com's snazzy web site. First off, a word of advice - never buy from MP3MALL.net. Their customer service is atrocious, and so far, they have ignored two requests to provide me with a return authorization number. Unfortunately, the unit did not live up to expectations. It was defective right out of the box. The unit would not power on and off properly. Sometimes it would turn on, sometimes not. I never got it to successfully play an MP3. Then it just died altogether. The upload software is non-user friendly. The user manual is a joke and grossly inadequate. The Neuros web site states that the unit's buttons will not respond if the unit is plugged in to a computer's USB port. How stupid is that? Yes, the unit has one cool feature - the ability to broadcast your songs on a free FM frequency directly to your stereo without physical connections. But, if you live in a big city, where the frequencies are all taken up, forget about using this feature. If I had received a working model, perhaps I would be singing the unit's praises. However, when one shells out $450 for a piece of electronics, I don't think it's asking too much that it work as advertised. Personally, I'll be waiting for Apple to come out with an 80GB iPod. Save your dough and a lot of headaches and avoid the Neuros.
