Madonna Is Going To Tell You A Secret and it just might make u a better person.,
By Porfie Medina "Porfie Jr. Medina" (Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: NEW I'm Going To Tell You A Secret (DVD) (DVD)
I'm Going To tell You A Secret is another documentary from the most successful female recording artist in history the one and only MADONNA. For anyone who has seen Madonna Truth or Dare (Blonde Ambition Tour 1990) you know how entertaining Madonna can be. If you are looking for a Truth or Dare part 2 you are going to be disappointed. This is Madonna 14 years later (Reinvention Tour 2004) and she is not pushing the boundaries of sexuality as she did in the early 90's. What Madonna is doing is what we all at one point in our lives or another do, and that is question the purpose of our lives and that we try to be better people. At times I do miss the early sexual in your face Madonna, but like Madonna me and many other fans have grown up and are older and we have different interests. There comes a point in your life when you start to look beyond the surface and want to know more about the big picture. I will be forever grateful that I was one of those kids that got to see and grow up with Madonna and watch her push all those boundaries and define the music and MTV era like no one before or since. Now days it is hard to find someone who is as daring, truthful, outspoken or original as she was and still is. What will separate Madonna from other stars is that she keeps going. She may be drug down in the dirt for releasing what some call a bad album or bad movie, yet she will bounce back and amaze the hell out of you with a record breaking album (Confessions on A Dance Floor hit #1 in over 40 countries) and release a tour that goes beyond what a tour is supposed to be by stimulating your mind and senses. She is human and like all of us she will have her ups and downs. What makes her a true artist is that she does what she wants and creates the art she wants, and you can either join her along for one amazing emotional journey or you can stay behind and watch. I'm Going To Tell You A Secret is a great documentary and it shows no matter how rich and famous you get there is more to life than just that. I will not ramble any more but encourage anyone who has an open mind and who is looking to be touched by the human spirit and be inspired to be a better person and less judgmental to check this movie out!The DVD will contain the documentary movie IM GOING TO TELL YOU A SECRET and it includes live and stage performances of the songs below: Vogue American Life Mother and Father Nobody Knows Me Music Hollywood (Remix) Lament Like A Prayer Holiday Imagine The Bonus Features will include a CD soundtrack that will feature live songs from the Re-Invention Tour and highlights from the documentary. Below are the songs included. The Beast Within Vogue Nobody Knows Me American Life Hollywood (Remix) Die Another Day Lament Like A Prayer Imagine Mother and Father Susan MacLeod/Into The Groove Music Holiday I Love New York Best of all the MADONNA fans will get treated to never before seen footage and the AMERICAN LIFE Video (Director's Cut) UPDATE as of 06/20/2006 For some strange reason Madonna or her people choose to not include the Directors Cut of the AMERICAN LIFE video and the DVD does not include the full versions of the songs only the edited versions. I for one am upset as are many other Madonna fans. The press release gave us fans false information on this DVD/CD set. Also save yourself a ton of money and buy this at Walmart Super Center (not online just in store) I only payed $16.97 compared to the $29.99 retail price. Thank God I did not pay full price or I would be really upset. I love Madonna but because of this misinformation I give this set 4 stars instead of the 5 but amazon will not let me change it!

There's nothing better than seeing Madonna live in concert and then having the chance to see what exactly happened backstage during the tour. The scandulous love affairs, the dancers turning on one another, threats from the Canadian police, and, most of all, Madge's diva moments and tirades. Too bad none of this happens in "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret."But, to back up for a moment, I must confess; I love Madonna. Her music, her hammy acting, and, hell, I'd take the Kabbalah over Scientology anyday! In fact, I actually prefer "Ray of Light" and her other albums since, more so than her Blonde Ambition music. But, I must be completely honest, "Truth or Dare" is, by far, the better movie. "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret" is entertaining for die-hard Madonna fans, no doubt; it has some good, however limited, moments backstage, interesting but simple insights into her family life, and of course, great scenes from her "Re-Invention Tour" that will give your Dolby Digital receiver a run for its money. I must applaud Madonna as a person, however. You can see the develpoment she has made in her personal life and her music from watching this film. No longer the four-letter-word spouting, boy-toy, Madonna appears to be a much better person to sit and have dinner with. She is nicer, more patient, more loving. Who wants to see a movie about that?

madonna's secret,

I think its a safe assumption that most of us will never meet madonna. Most of us will never even be in the same room with her. So the next best thing is watching her documentary. I was lucky enough to have seen this movie, at the premiere in NY, with Madonna herself. At some point in each one of our lives, we will have to ask tough questions about ourselves, about our beliefs, about this world we live in. This movie is just that. Madonna is asking, wondering, and more importantly, showing her more human side. This movie shows, for the first time, how she interacts with her two beautiful (and smart) children. And it also shows how frustrating it is for them to have their mom on the road for so long. (Just to put on such a great show for us!) For those of you who are still the same person you were 15 years ago, when Truth or dare came out, you may not like this movie. But for those of us who are also questioning and growing and maturing, this movie will leave you feeling like there's still hope for world peace.

Madonna RISES above all the bitterness in this INSPIRATIONAL Film,
By
This review is from: NEW I'm Going To Tell You A Secret (DVD) (DVD)
Had to write a review since I notice some bitter reviewers in here. I gotta tell you "Truth & Dare" was an awesome movie and all in its own. "I'm going to tell you a secret" is another awesome movie all in its own, between the 2 movies its almost impossible to compare them because they both have different themes. The only thing thats the same is it stars Madonna but 2 different versions of her. Madonna has come a long way since the beginning and has changed so much throughout her career. I think watching the film was very inspirational and refreshing. I just simply cannot understand some people who don't get any of her messages in this film. It seems to me that people want Madonna to remain a bitch and ignorant forever and just disappear all because she's old..... How pathetic... I have to say Madonna really has changed so much and continues to grow and learn. It is proof by seeing how she is in this film. Please don't allow those who don't know how to grow up and be positive influence your decision on watching a film very well worth it. You will know what I mean.... This is a movie worth watching even once but a second time it becomes even more clear as to what the secret is all about.

Can you say boring?,

If you speak English you probably can and you probably WILL use it to describe this film as it really dragged after the first half and the only redeeming qualities it has are the superb music numbers. The biggest problem is that it does not have an option to see the music numbers on their own and even then it does not have all the performances from the original concert. The message of the film could have been put forth in 25 minutes...

I was at the second show in Las Vegas, NV of the Re-Invention Tour, and lucky enough to be one of the dance pit winners. So I was right up front and Madonna was in my face! I've been waiting for this DVD to come out since last year when the documentary originally aired on MTV.Every bit of this movie is incredibly entertaining, even near then end where it slows down and gets more heartfelt than fun. This movie follows Madonna on the Re-Invention tour from opening night to closing night and it's really a fun look into life on the raod with Madonna. As much as it seems to mirror "Truth Or Dare"/"In Bed With Madonna" it also successfully stands out on its own. If you loved "Truth Or Dare"/"In Bed With Madonna", but "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret". You won't be disappointed. Now that "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret" is being made available, when are we going to get "The Re-Invention Tour" on DVD in it's entirety? It was filmed by CBS for broadcast, but contractual disagreements led to it never being seen. It's out there somewhere, and Madonna spokespersons have verbally confirmed that it will see the light of day eventually. ***GOOGLE "MADONNA PETITION" AND SIGN THE PETITION TO BRING THE "VIRGIN TOUR" AND "BLONDE AMBITION TOUR" TO DVD!***

Reinvention tour 2004,
This review is from: NEW I'm Going To Tell You A Secret (DVD) (DVD)
Don't get me wrong I love madonna I went to se the reinvention tour twice and the confessions tour twice this year. I'm just not to happy because I have been waithing 2 years for madonna to release her reinvention tour on dvd not just some song in a movie if this dvd would include the movie and the entire concert it would have been a good package. I just don't know why her people don't release her concerts on dvd what about the virgin tour on dvd and the blonde ambition tour on dvd. when I found out she was going to release a movie about her reinvention tour I had the feeling she was not going to release the reinvention tour 2004 dvd. o well the movie is great I just hope she would release the entire show of the reinvention because the movie just get's you to want to see more of this concert.

Who's that girl? And why did she bother?,
This review is from: NEW I'm Going To Tell You A Secret (DVD) (DVD)
A better title for Madonna's latest video-nonsense might be, "Confessions of a Cabala Infomercial." Madonna had tremendous difficulty getting her mucumentary distributed (probably because no one is interested in watching a nearly 50 y/o grown-woman parading around like a teenager, preaching the Cabala.) ...So what does the queen of commercialism do? She convinces MTV to air it (commercial-free, of course) then releases this the following summer on DVD and separately with a CD of throw-away tracks so she can get the most bang for her buck. In 1990 Madonna made a film that was a huge phenomenon (like herself at the time), called "Truth Or Dare" that is a modern-day classic. In 2004, she gave little effort, and even less talent to produce another video tour memoir called, "I'm Going To Tell You a Secret." Madonna sounds, and appears very sterile in the entire picture. She enjoys telling people about "the new Madonna" and how their lives will be better if they conform to her beliefs. Like another huge legend once said, Joan Crawford, "you take care of your evil, and I'll take care of mine..." These are words to live by as far as I'm concerned. The film doesn't give any insight into "who Madonna really is." Perhaps, Madonna's 2003 hit (from the commercial bomb "American Llife") "Nobody Knows Me" really does describe the 80's white-blonde airhead. Moreover, there once was a time when Madonna could at least play herself; now she can't even do that because she is so shallow and paper-thin. As a singer, dancer and entertainer I love Madonna, but as a movie producer she just doesn't interest me.

It's awesome to watch Truth or Dare and then I'm Going To Tell You A Secret to see just how much Madonna has changed and yet how much she's stayed the same. Madonna has matured, married, had chilren and sees the world through the eyes of what I think is a much wiser and introspective woman. Yet she remains ambitious, bitchy, funny, witty and still the best live performer of our generation. Ignore all the naysayers this is a wonderful movie and it's about time it's out on DVD!

I am very excited about the pending release of the Secret DVD, after having seen it on MTV. I am hoping the dvd may have some more footage edited from the MTV version. Anyway, you fans of yesteryear need to stop Vogueing long enough to realize that Madonna has more to say, she has evolved, and is evolving. Maybe there's a message there for us. She is no longer quite the egocentric diva you long for. That doesn't mean she doesn't have incredible energy and spunk. She's not a saint for sure. And she is not cramming Kabbalah down our throats; she is being who she has become and sharing the effect her studies have had upon her. Look into your hearts before you stone her guys.
