Excellect Text for Beginners!,
This review is from: The NEW Nine-Note Recorder Method: Easy Music for Beginners (Spiral-bound)
I'm not sure why this book isn't #1 in the how-tos for recorders. It's extremely well written, formatted for easy learning (for us beginners), contains a perfect array of tunes for practice and is just plain fun! I doubt you'll find better bang for your buck.
Thanks!

I am an adult learning to play the recorder. I had heard this was a good course and was not disappointed. I enjoyed instant success with the first few songs and am now enjoying more challenging selections.

This book is EXCELLENT! I am 62 and trying to exercise my brain, my granddaughter is 11. I bought us both a recorder so we could learn together, then found that lesson books are too complicated to understand. I followed the previous review advice and bought this one. Don't buy any other. This is the one you want!

My copy of "The New 9 Note Recorder Method" arrived in today's mail and I've already found it to be a great help in learning to play the recorder. The songs are simple in notation and easy to understand. Even if a person has never read music before I feel certain that there would be no problem in understanding. The fold out fingering charts (one for pages 1-32 and the other for pages 33-66) are a great idea. Instead of having to flip back and forth between the main fingering chart in the back every 5 minutes when learning you just have to fold out the chart on the side and there are the basic notes clearly displayed for you. I'm fairly new to the recorder, and I'm finding this book to be a great help in learning to play.

I bought the alto version of this, and have been very impressed with the way it combines new notes with great, graduated practice pieces. I was always sad that I had not learned to read music or play an instrument. Now, after 6 weeks with this book, I feel very successful. Penny deserves an A+.
Thanks, James Ewert |
