The CDS have high quality. About the books: Although the topis are based on situations for university students, the book covers the 4 main skills (writing, reading, speaking and listening) in a very good way. The authors should include colorful photos in order to offer a more attractive material though.

The CDs are a great complement to the book. The text is spoken at normal speed to be challenging, and then repeated more slowly.

Please understand that you must purchase the textbook and the CDs SEPARATELY. Amazon has changed the listing description, but before it was misleading. After twice ordering this item and only getting CDs (when I expected to get both), Amazon was prompt in fixing the matter and changed the description.

I've tried many other books and this one is fine for someone who has studied Chinese and needs a refresher, so someone who is beginning/intermediate. Other choices, which I think perhaps fair better, are the Integrated Chinese series.
