Kim Lane created Travel Feet Disposable Foot Covers due to her own concern and hesitation at having to walk through airport security in her bare feet, especially after doing some research about what really was on airport floors. Travelers going through security checkpoints at airports across the country, not knowing, may be picking up other's fungi, viruses, parasites and toxins. Terry explains that "many people today are going through airport security in their bare feet or socks, and not only are they spreading their own germs but the bacteria they are picking up could cause serious health concerns. These bacteria can travel through the mucus membranes, skin and compromised areas of our body and go virtually undetected until you experience symptoms." Now with the increase in international travelers, the risk of picking up a wide range of diseases is on the rise. Dr. Daniel Lee, lower leg disease expert, recently said, "I do have concerns over the organisms found. Staphylococcus, which was found on one airport floor, causes skin infections that go deep through the layers, and people who are sensitive can pick it up." Dr. Lee suggests wearing medical booties through airport security.
