I bought the Sony NEX-5N bundle package from Amazon.com's partner vendor to replace one of my aging p/s cameras. It took me about a week or so to familiar with most of the operations. It can take very nice pictures viewed from LCD screen and laptop computer screen. The HD movies took from this camera is very clear(on HDTV)and I hear no clicking noise.
Last week I went to Sedona, AZ. with this camera. My daughter took some panorama pictures of Bell Rock and adjacent sceneries. It looked okay on LCD and laptop screen(like flat wide still picture) but not very clear(like foggy). I deleted some of them due to bad compositions and not so clear images.
After I bought an HDMI cable and connected it to the HDTV, I was very surprised about the clarity and bright color of the red rocks. It's really beautiful just like I was standing in front of the red rocks. The panorama pictures move around like slow motion movies(no sound). The still pictures looks more clearer and detail than viewed from laptop computer. I think those pictures I deleted due to un-clear feeling on the laptops should look a lot better on the HDTV.
This is an amazing little camera. I love the image quality and all the fun (if unnecessary) in-camera options. I bought it as a lighter weight quality camera to take backpacking -- I'm getting too old/ lazy to carry my Canon EOS 7D all the time.
What I may never get used to is NOT having a view-finder; of course, I could buy one for $350. I just can't seem to use the LCD very for critical focusing.
Also, the menu system is anything but intuitive -- I still get lost after using it a couple months.
It IS fun to use (when you get the menu figured out) and the image-quality is exceptional.
Nice camera. Very good picture quality (near DSLR quality). Video recording is good with no clicking sound as said in many previous reviews. Image stabilization is lacking a little but still manageable. Overall a good camera in this price. Good value for money.
