NEXTAR 10.4-Inch Digital Photo Frame with Slide Show and Music Function

I have the 10.4 Nextar frame. I do digital photography as a paying hobby. Thus, I am familiar with digital imaging and choosing a display. Bottom-line: The frame doesn't have a good display at all! Images are blurry and unsharp, even when resized to the frame's 800x600 claimed native resolution. Oddly, the instructions say the frame is 800x600 resolution, but the box says it's 640x480.

Having purchased frames for others and also owning two other frames, I can tell you that this frame is not worth the money. Even a frame that's more expensive will be worth it, just for the improved image quality. This frame has shameful image quality and should be avoided.

I work with computers and video cameras on a daily basis, so I have a lot of experience with digital products - this is NOT a good one. I purchased this frame for my parents the day after Thanksgiving, thinking I got a really great deal - a $300 frame for only $100. It's really not even worth the $100. As far as the frame exterior goes, it's nicer than most other digital frames out there, but that's where the good things stop. The remote has more than 20 buttons on it - that is completely unecessary for a simple digital frame. It will take a USB flash drive, or the memory cards from your digital camera and play the pictures off of it, but that's all it will do - there is no way to copy and paste the pictures into the frame's internal memory. So you've now lost your USB/Memory card, if you really want to use your frame. I left the USB drive in for about 10 minutes to let the pictures run, when I took it out - the thing was too hot too touch. This frame would have a meltdown if you actually tried to use it the way it was intended to be used.

I would advise against anyone buying one of these products. There is a reason they are such a good deal. I purchased another frame from Best Buy that same day, much cheaper, and though the frame itself is not as pretty, the picture quality is ten times better and the interface is so easy to use. Copy and paste the pictures in and you're done. That's the way it is supposed to be.

My parents received this as a Christmas gift, and as the picture person in the family, I was tasked with setting it up.

I opened up the box and found the basic loose papers like the product registration, etc. When I couldn't find the manual after a minute or two of digging, I realized that one of those loose papers was the 8-page User's Manual.

The thing was one of the worst written pieces of technical writing I've ever seen. Those 40 buttons on the remote? Not a one was explained. Nowhere did it mention that you need to devote a memory card or USB flash drive.

Everything I was able to do with this frame I figured out on my own by just pushing buttons. Maybe someday I'll actually stumble across how to play music while the photos rotate through (though who would want to through those crappy speakers?).

It was a thoughtful gift though, just don't waste your money on this brand. I really hope the giver didn't spend anything more than $20 on this.

I got this frame as a gift to my mother in-law to keep photos of the family on since everyone has a digital camera, but has no time for printing photos. The frame looks very good, accepts every kind of storage cards and comes with a remote that is pretty easy to use once you have it figured out...and the positives stop here. Picture quality is absolutely horrible. Photos look pixelated and colors have no brightness to them at all (I tried adjusting them to no avail). So in the "doing its primary job" department this frame comes pathetically short. This frame is not worth the money spent on it (and it wasn't much), next time when I buy a digital frame for myself I will gladly spend more money on something better.

The time delay between pictures is too short. The longest delay is 10sec. Would be best to have options for 1 hour, 2 hours, 1 day as well as 10sec, 5 sec and 1 sec.
Everything else about the product is excellent.

My Wife bought this frame for me for Christmas and was happy till I actually opened it and try to use it.
If you think you can connect to a computer think again. It says it is windows 98/me,2000 compatible. Why is this important? there is no internal memory....
First of all it does have to usb ports but no internal memory so unless you plan to run a long cable and use your PC as a SD card it is useless.
Secondly the tv/av cable to connect to your tv is so short you'd have to set the frame either behind your tv or on the floor. ( depending on where your inputs are located )
Thirdly sometimes the frame freezes and you have to shut it down, don't try using the remote for this function because it seldom works if at all.
Fourthly Try going to Nextar website for information or help and be prepared to wait along time to view anything, I have broadband cable and it was like I was on dial up. Probablly due to an overrun server with people trying to figure out this piece of @$^%&.
I did put a card in and it did work and the pictures looked good but unless you have a flash drive or a huge card that you can dedicate to this frame don't waste your time or money.

A. To begin with, this frame is unreliable. It sometimes recognizes SD and other cards, other times it doesn't: it just blinks and sits there.

B. The remote, which as near as I can tell is required to perform many of the device's functions, does not work at all. Either with their provided battery or my replacement battery. Following Nextar's web site's troubleshooting tips is useless. Which brings us to...

C. The manual. The worst I have ever read. I've read some bad ones, and it is not even competitive. Go download it at their web site and see for yourself: I defy you to make sense of this thing.

D. When the device works at all, the user interface for configuration settings is incomprehensible and maddening. But, I have to admit, I haven't had that problem lately. I can't even get to the configuration settings anymore.

I've used plenty of electronics -- some great, some not so great. But I have never seen a single product that has so many different things wrong with it. This thing is horrid. Cursed. Please, do yourself a favor: stay far away!

Very nice photo frame, I use it mostly with SD cards, does exactly what I expected, creates a slideshow.
Packaged well, excellent delivery.

The size of the picture frame is perfect and does excatly what it says. Works great for me. Would surely refer it to my friends and family.

I liked this product because it not only supports mpg4 or avi for videos but plays divx, dat and mog.

The remote can be tricky to figure out how to use --- better instructions/examples would be nice.

I got this as a gift, and it was wonderful! No dead pixels, and the remote control is cool. You will be able to stare at it for hours, and recall all the memories you have with your loved ones. =)
