Where are all the glitches, like in NFL 2K???,
By Che (San Jose, CA.) - See all my reviews

WOW...what a game!!! It's far improved compared to last years game! What I love about it is the Franchise Mode, which allows you to coach and GM a team through multiple seasons. You have to deal with rookies, signing/releasing players and even retiring them! Sega finally got the idea from PSX's Madden games. The graphics on this game are still awesome. There are also more animations and player sounds. Everyone keeps talking about the improved running in this game, but I think it's too improved! I can easily go over 10 yards per carry, and that's no fun! The best new feature on the game is the Internet play!! It's great, I can now play with up to 8 people across the country, simultaniously! What's better then that is that you can update rosters and players stats, as the weeks go by, onto your VMU. Now that's amazing!!!! This game is one of the best Dreamcast cames that I've ever owned. What's surprising is that I haven't run into any glitches yet. Remember last year's NFL2K....oh whata nightmare!! Supposedly, they fixed a lot of the glitches on this years edition. After buying a very, veRY, VERY DISAPPOINTING Sega sports game (you all know what game I'm talking about), I hesitated on buying NFL2K1. It turned out that they have made another superior sports game! When Madden 2001 comes out next month for PSX2, they have some competition in store for them!!!

Can a game get better than "This"?,

This review is from: NFL 2K1 (Video Game)
For everyone who has played NFL2K, this review is for YOU! Did you love the game but still feel cheated with the lack of runing options and a solid AI? Well, your wait is over! You have NO excuse for NOT buying this game. Not only can you challenge unknown people on the internet, you can actually play against the computer and have a worthy adversary! Yes Virginia, there IS a running game! No longer can you wing the ball deep and depend upon a "Hail Mary" to score. No, this game has depth. You run to set up the pass. Or...if you are Kurt Warner and the St Louis Rams, you pass to set up the run. Almost everything you hated about NFL2K has been corrected. You can actually run for 100 yrds and pass for 300yrds while your defense can intercept passes and stuff the run. The basic gameplay is the same but the nuances have been honed to razor sharpness. If you like football, then BUY this game! If you love football, then BUY this game! If you just watch football, then BUY this game. Heck, even if you HATE football, buy this game. You will learn to love it! I have owned every system from the original Atari thru the Dreamcast. And i can honestly say, without exception, this is the BEST football game i have ever played. And once you master the computer, just TRY it online!!!

Well, let me just start off by saying that I recently sold my N64 along with some games in order to afford myself a Playstation 2 for the sole purpose of playing Madden 2001, but after playing Madden at Circuit City and Comp USA for hours, I realized that I was not as impressed as I thought I would be with this game. The commentary is pathetic, and the gameplay is mediocre at best. What did i do? I bought a Dreamcast Sports pack with NFL 2K and NBA 2K. Even NFL 2K is a much more exciting game than Madden, and it is over a year old!! Now, let me tell you about the NFL 2K1 experience!!! Hands down, this is the best football game on any console. I have not even tried out all of the options yet (e.g. online play, franchise mode)and I can already put this game in a category of it's own. Speedy game play and lifelike player models make this game the cream of the crop...unlike the sluggish gameplay and bug-eyed models of Madden 2001. Yes, Madden 2001 is the best MADDEN football game ever made, but if you want to have the best virtual football experience possible, save yourself a lot of wasted time and effort by purchasing the best (NFL 2K1).

The Reason To Own A Dreamcast Just Got More Convincing,
By A Customer
This review is from: NFL 2K1 (Video Game)
Yeah, I bought a dreamcast system because of NFL2K. Well, NFL 2K1 is the reason I love the dreamcast. What a game. IF you are a fan on Madden games for the playstation, you will got nuts after you play NFL 2K1. Not only can you have a solid running game, passing game, and a tough defense, but you can play it in franchise mode! The veteran players attributes actually decline through out seasons which makes your off-season decisions extremely important with the draft and free agent signings. Oh yeah, you can play against arch rival fans over the internet which makes the game even more intense. Buy this game. You will not be disapointed. Thumbs up sega!!!

It doesn't get any better than this...,

Man, this game has to be the best game I have played so far on the Dreamcast and is certainly the best football game I have every played. It's pure enjoyment watching my friends who aren't so good at this game yet lobbin' the ball up to any receiver like they could in NFL2K and me picking them off with sam madison. Anything that [was not good] about NFL2K is better in NFL2K1. The running game is excellent. You look for the holes in the middle and if you pick the right one you just may get a few yards, sometimes you may even break out for a 60 yard gain. Running to the outside is not my expertise like running up the middle is but it's not to the point where you can get 10 yards everytime or just 1 yard everytime. The passing game could use a little more combing through. Every once in awhile you'll be passing the ball and the ball will bounce off the receivers hands even though the nearest defender is 5 yards away, even with Randy Moss. But that's usually if you bomb the ball downfield. 10-15 yard passes are more easier to complete. Another thing I like about it is that you have to decide if lobbin' the ball up or throwing a bullet is the best thing when passing. It takes quick thinking but hey, so does the real NFL. Overall, I absolutely love this game and will never get sick of it.

Hey, how's it going. It's going good here as long as I'm playing NFL2k1. I love this game. Don't listen to all those other reviews that pick this game apart by the few glitches it has, this game is awesome. I cain't stop playing it, Season mode is the best thing i ever played. You can trade, create, players and even design your own plays. I guess you can say, for short, "BUY THIS GAME!" You won't be let down with all the awesome modes of gameplay and the best graphics you will see in any football game......or any other game.

Does football get much better?,

This game is simply amazing. The graphics are detailed to the max (although the sidelines do look a bit goofy). The hits and player reactions are very well done. It has a lot of customization options such as create 8 players, a team, plays, etc. Simply amazing. There is also a Franchise mode in which you can coach your team over years and seasons. You can trade players and draft picks and sign college prospects and free agents. (By the time you get to your 6th year good luck on finding a winning season because Moss, Carter, Manning, James, Brown, theyll all be gone and retired =).) This game will definitly keep you and your friends playing through a season which is very challenging. There are a couple gripes which keep it from 5 stars. One, you can block a punt every time if you line up on the outside of the left blocker. There are certain plays where you can pull all the DBs away from one side and just have a running back sweep out for open field and touchdowns. Also punt returns can be really easy if you just sweep from one side to the other. The multi-player game I dont play. I have played it and lag is horrible, sickening. Unplayable. Games like 4X4 EVO give me hope for Segas network (the online mode moves perfectly with no lag). NFL 2K2 could be simply awesome. Finally, If you got a Dreamcast, pick up this game. This game will be the love of fans everywhere because there just simply isnt much wrong with it.

Realistic football Plain&Simple,

I own both the PS2 and the Dreamcast and I have both football games and both are fantastic, but I have to give the edge to NFL2k1 and not just for the obvious 2 reasons. The obvious 2 reasons are crushing and humiliating your friends or standers on-line and updating your rosters too keep it current. I could go into graphics, gameplay, replay value(Did I mention you can keep rosters current?), presentation, sound etc etc, but why? Fun is the most important factor and I played both and play both and NFL2K1 is more fun plain and simple. After all that hype the PS2 should of been alot better!

NFL 2K1 - "It's in the game",
By A Customer
This review is from: NFL 2K1 (Video Game)
Sega & Visual Concepts have a masterpiece on their hands. After playing NFL 2K1 practically non-stop, I'm into my fifth season, this game continues to surprise and entertain. I cannot say enough about the depth they managed to cram into this game, which manages to excel in many areas.1. With more than 2000 motion captured movements, the players come alive on your tv. And unlike Madden 2001, 2K1 players seem to mimick true physics and human motion in how they interact with one another. Players aren't always tackled by the first defender they encounter. They might plow a defender over if one is larger or is at full speed. Or a player might stumble into the endzone after overcoming a shoe string tackle. 2. The playbook accurately reflects the actual plays ran by each team. And there are more plays to choose from than Madden 2001. Don't like a play, create your own with the play editor. 3. The dialogue between the two commentators is very colorful and accurately reflects the situations and play on the field. A lot of attention was put into this detail and it shows. The commentary on Madden was pathetic and got old fast. I wanted to shut Maddens mouth off. 4. Long term playability. NFL 2K1 is so close to the real thing, you won't get tired of playing it. The A.I. adapts to your play as a game progresses and never ceases to challenge you. And there are other variables such as; open receivers that drop balls, over thrown passes, players that break tackles, players that talk smack, etc... I could keep going on about the features of this game, but you get the point. The only drawback to this game is that the graphics aren't quite as sharp as those on EAs Madden. But the play of Madden is too canned and the A.I. lacks. Even my nephew, who owns Madden on a PS2, prefers the play of NFL 2K1. He's very excited that NFL 2K2 will soon be offered on the PS2. "If it's in the game,...than 2K1 has captured it". |
