classic NFL game with a bit of SPICE,

in MY opinion...this is PS2's breakthrough football game, awesome gameplay, terrific graphics engine, and comedic commentary, not exactly SIMULATION but eight on eight is close enough, especially when u get a football game with NO PENALTIES!i mean do u know any other football game that u can literally have the team catch on fire? hmmm...yeah, that's what i thought. and traditional simulation football games are gettin kinda old don't ya think?...it's time to have some REAL helmet poppin, sack causin, late hittin, player firin and trash talkin FUN! and even if you're not a fan of the NFL BLITZ series, you WILL love it, guaranteed....two thumbs up and a bag of Doritos!

For anyone who knows the blitz games, this one looks top notch. The gameplay is smooth, the graphics are great looking and of course the bottom line is, its a Blitz game, so the fun level is just as good as ever. However, the power up codes have their flaws...specifically the no first downs, infinate turbo, and no interceptions codes for some reason don't work on the games shipped and sold by the retailer, and Midway is currently looking into fixing the problem somehow. It's still a great looking game, and a fun one, but I recommend waiting a few months where perhaps titles on the shelf then would have the glitch fixed.

This game is pretty much just like the other NFL Blitz games, but this game has 100% more better graphics.

Better than the arcade, but...,

This game is missing some things that I would have liked. First, I wish there were more replays or the choice to have more replays. Second, the players weren't zoomed in too much, and they looked like ants. Furthermore, you really couldn't hit the other player after the play was over -- a lot -- like the arcade version where you can keep hitting the player two or three times before selection of plays. Lastly, the computer AI is too good generally. When you are stomping on them, the game ups the defense and they either intercept or force you to punt until they catch up. Overall, this a good party game, but in single-player mode it bites. This game does however has some redeeming qualities. The commentators are [smart-alecs], but their comments do get repetitive. Next, the use of the "Impact Player" is innovative and assists with the offensive strategies easily. Lastly, the graphics generally are much better than the arcade. Overall, this game is a rental, unless you like NFL Blitz in the arcade.

Okay, for those of you that think this is supposed to be realistic... it's not. It is meant to be fun! That is it! Tackle everyone, at any time, with no penalties!

Fast action,

The action in this game fast and hard hitting. This is the game if you feel like slamming the other team to the ground and stepping on them. The controls are tight and right on.You can also make a player into a deer or eagle and other ones with the right code.Speaking of codes, there are tons of codes for Blitz, which makes it even more interesting.I did find some codes like infinate turbo didn`t lock in.I also would like to have seen the football field made longer with 10yd first downs instead of 30yd first downs like it is now.The graphics are great and sharp, nothing like the PS1 version,a whole new game.If you enjoy football, but like arcade buy this game. Its also a great two person game.

Truly Smashmouth Football,

This gameis great. It takes the original Blitz's soul and puts it into a PS2 body. Blitz 2002 and '01 were not very good, they had little improvements over the original. Hovever '02 has many, probably the most noticable is the stadium detail. You can see the fans cheering (like most PS2 games) but more importantly the stadiums look very life like. I've rented the other Blitz titles, but have never bought one. I'm glad to say the Blitz 2002 was a great invesment.

Nfl Blitz is the sweetest game I have ever played in my whole life. I have been a big fan of the Blitz series and have all the games. By far this is the best game of them all. If you have never played the Blitz series I think you should rent out the game first, but if you buy the game right away you will like.Trust me you'll love the game.

I bought the game pretty much knowing what it is, which is arcade-like football. Its fun with 4 players, even with two.Its all around...OK. Graphics are good, tackles are great. The 2 points I had to make that are reasons I gave it 3 stars are: 1. When trying to change players while chasing a QB, WR, or RB, or while the ball is in mid air it does not change the player fast enough. 2. No create-a-player, no player trading,or custom teams I guess its so people will buy the newer one as soon as it comes out. I like to keep the teams current, and you can't ith this game. For example if playing as the Falcons, I would like to be able to bench Chandler and put Vick in at QB, but he is at WR... things like that... ...The enhanced Create-a-Player mode allows the user to not only select the player's height, weight, and position, but also the uniform, face, head size and type, size of pads, facemask, and more. The game features enormous 3-D player models, with bulging muscles and real-player faces....BR>Umm... No, there is no create-a-player mode!...

this game rocks no rules is awesome...if there were refs in this game they would be just as useful as a cook with a paintbrush.preaty much what i`m tryin to say is a game with no rules or limitations is awesome, but they took away the unlimited pass distance from blitz 2001 and made it 60 yard limit.new plays it is just awesome over 10 pages of plays it just doesn`t get much better.and still have the original blitz plays like Dabomb witch describes this game.
