This game is going to really stick out from other games.

4.0 out of 5 stars We'll have to see, January 31, 2002

First off, I have to say that NFL Blitz for the N64 was my 2nd fagvorite game for the system(next to Goldeneye) and was incredible fun, especially with two players. Back then, I never thought of what a football game should include, like the ability to have a dynasty, trade players, and create new players. It didn't matter that it didn't have any of those features because it was just so fun to play. On the other hand, I have only played the GBA version of Blitz 2002, ... I wouldn't preorder Blitz 2002 for any system until one version has come out for either of the three main consoles, then check the reviesws and see what they have to say.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Arcade Football Game, July 15, 2002

When you purchase NFL Blitz you are getting a great Arcade Football game. You are not however getting a great Football game. Here's the difference.

NFL Blitz is a very fun enjoyable game with hard hits, imaginative commentary and very fast game play. It is a great game to play against a buddy because the hits and commentary make the game a social event. Playing by yourself is a totally different thing. For instance, if you prefer to grind the ball down the field, amassing 3 rushing yards per play while executing a NFC East type offense, avoid this game at all costs.

You can pick this game up and start playing with little or no practice. This is, both an advantage and a disadvantage. For one, no matter how much you practice, the games moves as such a fast pace that planning and practice make little difference. It is a game of reflexes, the faster the better. The graphics are great, the hits are fierce and the total game environment is above average.

There is no problem with recommending this game, just be aware that you are getting an arcade football game that is totally apart from a simulation or even half a simulation for that matter....

Hope this helps...

Go Giants!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This game rules, July 14, 2002

I'm a huge fan of the nfl blitz games. What makes them so good are the user freindly interface, the addictive fun and the arcade cade like feel after all it is the 3rd sequel to game based on a arcade game also the controls are ultra simple and easy. I love this game. I don't care about the create a player features and a all of the sports stuff. I just like playing the football game. I love its arcade like gemeplay. If you're for a realistic football game look elsewhere. But if you want endless hours of arcade style football fun get this game. And get it while they've got this bargain price. The graphics I don't no but I think the NFL blitz the first version had better graphics because I played it in the arcade before and on my N64.
Pros: Arcade like feel
User freindly interface
Ultra simple controls
Very fun and addictive
Graphics are pretty good but on the xbox they could of made them ten times better
Cons: NfL blitz one for N64 and arcade have better or equal graphics the psx graphics are probaly awful for NFL blitz one

Blitz 2002 is now better than ever. in my opinion it is one of the best games. it is fast paced and really hard hitting. Blitz is also a great buy ... there are a bunch of cheats ... BLitz 2002 is also a great multiplayer game. the graphics are easily the best out there...

I just got NFL Blitz for the Xbox last weekend. I had played the PS2 version before and with that in mind, this game is an exact port of that version. The graphics are a lot sharper with the anti-aliasing of the Xbox however. The sounds are pretty much the same.
Gameplay is similiar to the Blitzes of old, but with the inclusion of newer plays, animations, and a extra man who is like a wild card of sorts. On offense, you can have him stay to block, hand off the ball to him, or get open. On defense, you can have him blitz or stay in coverage. This new feature doesn't add or detract to the game. It makes Blitz 2002 a little bit more different.
The pacing of this game is a lot slower than before. I've played the original Blitz and Blitz 2002 3dfx PC versions and those have a much higher framerate than this Xbox and PS2 version. This version has the pacing of NFL Fever, which gives the game a totally different feeling. I guess you just have to approach this version of Blitz differently than previous versions.
The controls are my biggest concern. You are limited in the mapping of the buttons as with the PS2 version. The biggest gripe is that the turbo button is the right trigger by default. There is so much play in the Xbox control's triggers that it's almost impossible to double tap for the spin move. The controls make the game a bit harder than it actually is.
This Xbox version was ported over by the Point of View team which was responsible for the PC ports of the past.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nfl Blitz 2002, November 8, 2001
This review is from: NFL Blitz 2002 (Video Game)
I think that Nfl Blitz 2002 will be one of the best games around. All of the Nfl Blitz's have been so good I could play them every day. It's so much fun that you can beat up the other people, unlike the other games where you actually have to follow the rules. So I think when it comes out every one who owns an xbox should go out and buy it. It will be worth it.

This is the best football game for any console. Fluid graphics combined with bone crunching hits and tackles make this a must for any gamer.

3.0 out of 5 stars 2002 doesnt live up to its Legacy, March 21, 2002

This review is from: NFL Blitz 2002 (Video Game)
I am a die hard fan of the NFL Blitz series. Which is y i rushed out and bout NHL and NFL Blitz on their release dates. Agfter seeing the Hitz i feel like all Blitz fans got ripped off. In Hitz u had new team logos could create a player, create a team , new stadiums such as "shark tank" and the "moon base" that u could buy and a challenge mode to help improve certain skillz. NFL Blitz has none of that. That aint it tho. I cant even find a way to create a playbook anymore. I think Midway got so into Hitz they blew off NFL Blitz and tried to make the inauguaral NHL Hitz awesome and they did. I must say tho the coaching mode is interesting. Graphics r good. If u want a game with no rules get Hitz its a true show of Midways awesome legacy as a dominate game company. They reall ydisappointed me with NFL Blitz this year.
