NFL Blitz Pro has gotta be the best football game out there. It's more like Madden than the other Blitz games, but much much better than any Madden game. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not as much fun as it used to be.
I hate to say it, but I am disappointed in "NFL Blitz Pro". I had looked forward to this game and now that I have it, I can't say I particularly like it as much as I did in the previous years. I have EA's "Madden 2004" and "NCAA 2004" (PS2) for its excellent gameplay and AI, I have ESPN NFL "2k4" (Xbox) for it's excellent graphics, and I had hoped to have "NFL Blitz...

NFL Blitz Pro has gotta be the best football game out there. It's more like Madden than the other Blitz games, but much much better than any Madden game. There are no rules, so you can bash up your opponents at any time you want! There are a bunch of cool, rough, and funny tackles. You can now celebrate with the ball during play using the right analog stick! Also, after touchdowns, there are a ton of funny gloating celebrations that the computer controls. The commentary is hilarious! This game is so much more exciting than Madden. Lots of good running and passing (as well as defensive) plays to choose from. Computer AI is good. Momentum and strategy are really involved now!

Also, to the person before me who said that he couldn't unlock the classic Blitz mode. You have to earn Blitz Credits by winning Exhibition or Quickplay games. When you earn enough credits (you also need a profile), you can buy that mode in the Blitz shop.

Along with the classic Blitz mode are a bunch of other great unlockable game modes! (Examples: "Butterfingaz" where every time a man is tackled, he fumbles. "All or Nothing" where you only have 4 downs to go all 100 yards, rather than 10. "David and Goliath" where one team is big and tough while the other team is small and fast.) You can also buy hilarious fantasy teams; like real bears, dolphins, lions, tigers, ninjas, zombies and tons more! If that isn't enough to make you buy the game, you can buy fantasy arenas and download real current weather in various US cities if you have the online adapter. All these things are unlockable in the Blitz shop if you have earned enough Blitz Credits to your profile.

On top of that, included are options to play a season or start a franchise. This game is awesome!!!

First of all this game is way better than the the other blitzes. The commentary is halirious. The gameplay is better, and so are the graphics. I like it cause there is no pass interference. You can do whatever u want. It's easyer then madden 2004 too. It's cool that u can do the fantasy draft. For example u could put Tiki Barber, Brett Farve, Terrall Owens, and Jeremy Shockey on the same team. The bottom line is don't buy this if u like the refs.

I have EA's "Madden 2004" and "NCAA 2004" (PS2) for its excellent gameplay and AI, I have ESPN NFL "2k4" (Xbox) for it's excellent graphics, and I had hoped to have "NFL Blitz Pro" (PS2) for being my fun fast-paced arcadey football.

Unfortunetly, "NFL Blitz Pro" is no longer as fast-paced and arcadey as the previous years' releases.

I'll keep it and continue to play it every now and then, but I am now going to search for cheap used copies of "NFL Blitz 2002" and "NFL Blitz 2003". I wish I hadn't sold them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blitz rules, October 14, 2003
This review is from: NFL Blitz Pro (Video Game)
I'm a big fan of all the Blitz games, and this is the best one yet. They've made this game just like Madden, but with better game play, better graphics, and faster paced action. I've got one preordered and can't wait. Oh, best of all, no John Madden. He's so bad, I heard EA Sports was talking to Dennis Miller about doing a football game. God he makes that game stink...

2.0 out of 5 stars What were you thinking, Midway?, April 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: NFL Blitz Pro (Video Game)
Say goodbye to the arcade game that was once so much fun. This game is
hardly an arcade game anymore. It feels more like Madden, except the
announcers are even more annoying than Madden! The announcers actually
WHINE constantly. What happened to the 2002 announcers, one was an idiot
and other constantly ripped on him -- that was hilarious! Now you have to
deal with constant whining and drawn-out stupid stories.

Teams now have their own plays, which is cool. Downloading real time

weather for the city you are playing in is a neat gimmick. But the core of
Blitz is SUPPOSED to be a fast-paced, arcade, hard-hitting, trash-talking,
game! Players of opposing teams can be seen giving a hand to one another to
get back on their feet after a play. WTH? This isn't supposed to be
politically-correct, its supposed to be BLITZ!
KICK 'EM WHILE THEY ARE DOWN!

I have Madden 2004 and ESPN NFL, I don't want (or need) another "serious"
football game. Blitz is supposed to be aggression releasing, funny, and
humor gameplay. Not any more.

There is a "Create A Game" mode called "Blitz Classic". Perhaps this is
what I'm looking for. Too bad I can't actually PLAY it. This option is
greyed out into you "earn the right" to play it.

Refering to manual, it says:

"Try activating multiple Creat A Game modes to create a unique game
experience of your own. Once you have completed the necessary steps to
unlock the game modes, options will be illuminated (not grey)."

So what exactly are the "necessary steps"?

Entering the Gameshark codes, I imagine.

Why the HELL do I need to UNLOCK this anyhow?

Man is this a game or what. You have to get this game there are no penelties, if you don't like a game with alot of penelties. You can do so many things after the whistle is blown. This is a fun hard hitting game that the whole family can love [my family does]and that's the hard down truth. Thank you amazon from Maryland I'm out baby.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, November 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: NFL Blitz Pro (Video Game)
Another in a line of "Me too"s trying to be Madden. Midway took the unique, arcadey gameplay of the original Blitz and watered it down. It really feels like you are playing a marketing decision rather than a balanced, fun game. The online portion can be fun, but the controls feel sluggish and laggy. The newest version of Blitz proves that the only football game you need is Madden 2004.

On a positive note, the comentary is very entertaining.

1.0 out of 5 stars blitz is a horrible game, December 27, 2003

all i can say is blitz is horrible. The past blitz games are awsome but when it comes to blitz pro it is horrible. When i bought this game i was so excited because i loved all the blitz games. I finally turned it on and the menu looked great. I thought it would be like the past blitz games but its not. Its nothing like blitz and you wouldnt be able to tell if it was a blitz game if it wasnt for the title. All i can say is get Madden 2004 instead of this game because this game sucks.
