2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money...Buy Madden Instead
Don't even waste your money on this one. I bought this title today thinking that the capabilities would at least equal Madden. Boy, I was wrong. The graphics are sub-par with Madden 2001, and the game play is much, much slower. Honestly, I wish I could get my money back.

I can't believe that SONY would spend so much money developing the PS2 and spend very little time or effort developing Gameday. The graphics are jerky and slow. Stick with EA Sports Madden Football

2.0 out of 5 stars Madden 2001 vs gameday 2001, November 18, 2000

There is no comparison between these two. It looks like Sony did not put any effort into the gameday release. I have played the Gameday series for the past three years and have finally switched to Madden Madden 2001 graphically/gameplay is leaps and bounds ahead of gameday. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON GAMEDAY 2001. RENT BEFORE YOU BUY.

one word: trash. This game is laughable.I'm a major football fan and when I finally got my Playstation 2 I drove over to blockbuster to rent both Madden 2001 and Gameday 2001 to see which was better. I arrive home and start playing Madden. Amazing game. Great graphics, gameplay, lots of options, etc. Then I start playing Gameday. Startup menu looks good, lots to chose from. I decide to start with an exibition game. As soon as it starts I regret wasting my money on renting it. Graphics are poor, but I think that at least the gameplay must be good. WRONG. Half of the defensive players are playing the wrong positions and their bodies are somehow misproportioned. Then I start playing offense. My quarterback is overthrowing passes by 10 yards and then chucks a screen pass straight into the sidelines. I throw another pass. His arm goes one way and the ball goes the other. The reciever stops, turns around, catches, and then freezes completely before running. "This is stupid",I think.Lets try running the ball.I hand it off and BAM! My guy is knocked to the ground for a loss of 2. I try again. I break through the line, have space, and think I'll get some good yardage. Wrong again. Somehow I'm knocked to the ground by a guy whos 5 yard away from me.Then I turn the game off and start playing Madden again.I never thought a game could steep this low. 989 should be ashamed of themselves. The only thing fun about the game is laughing at it, which my friend and I spent many happy hours doing. DONT BUY THIS GAME AND DONT EVEN RENT IT UNLESS YOUR IN THE MOOD FOR A GOOD LAUGH BECAUSE THIS GAME IS A JOKE

1.0 out of 5 stars What a Joke, December 13, 2000
This review is from: NFL Gameday 2001 (Video Game)
This game is terrible. The animations, the presentation, and the AI are all lousy. Defensive Backs skate backwards and stand totally still in zones. They don't react to anything the offense is doing. The animations pale in comparison to Madden. Sony should have never released this game, it is awful. Sony's football games have been going downhill the last couple years, and this is rock bottom. ....

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutly Horrible, January 1, 2001
This review is from: NFL Gameday 2001 (Video Game)
I rented this piece of junk yesterday. I expected it to be a good game because '98,'99,'2000, were so good. It wasn't, the graphics are terrible and the game play is a little better than horrible. My advice, waste no time, energy, or money with this game

1.0 out of 5 stars No quality control, December 17, 2000

I'm a HUGE fan of the past gamedays and on the first defensive play of the game I hit them for a 2 yard loss and it said my players name from the other team(ie Jevon Kerse from Pittsburg). This title was rushed to market WAY to soon and should be avoided. Hopefully they'll get it right next year.

2.0 out of 5 stars Madden 2001 Is A Lot Better, February 10, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: NFL Gameday 2001 (Video Game)
I got this game for christmas thinking that it would be better then it was for playstation, boy was I wrong. The graphics are no where as good and the gameplay is even worse. After playing Madden 2001 you will not want to play this game ever again. The players are misportioned and move slow moving and as someone else said it is very hard to run the ball. This game is not as lifelike as I thought it would be. So if you are thinking about buying this game save your money and go buy Madden 2001. GameDay is the worst game put out for ps2 todate.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only Impressive if you've not played any other PS2 games, January 17, 2001

Let me give you the quick low down. This game is a waste of money. I actually got mine back and bought Madden 2001 instead. I didn't realize how bad it was until I played Madden. 989 really screwed this one up in an effort to rush deliver this game to compete with Madden 2001. Your receivers will run back to the huddle while you are passing down the field on a Hail Mary. Even on the easiest level the CPU defense creams your running back whenever you try to run, even if the nearest defender is 5 yards away. You will somehow throw the ball into the stands when you were trying to throw a screen pass. When your receiver catches the ball he stops, turns around and then catches the ball. They never catch on the run as does Madden 2001. The list goes on and on. My sugestion is, don't buy it to find out.
