Far too short...,

This review is from: NFL Team Highlights 2003-04 - Green Bay Packers (DVD)
I'm a huge Packer fan and was looking forward to reliving the 2003 season that featured some great games. I guess I should have read the existing review and seen that it was only 20 minutes long. The fact that this is on DVD should have lent itself to the fact that there could have been a ton of great footage to show. Instead there is at most 45 seconds or so of highlights from the games... maybe one key play that made a difference. One of the most incredible games I've ever seen, the one after Brett's father died, got little more coverage than any other game. You got to see Brett's touchdown passes and about 10 seconds from a news conference. In addition, although no Packer fan wants to relive the dreaded 4th and 26, there were no highlights at all from the final game against the Eagles. Overall I expected a much more in-depth view of the 2003-04 season and was very disappointed.

A Quick (And Nostalgic!) Summary Of 2003,
By Zachary Koenig "K-Dawg" (Forest Lake, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: NFL Team Highlights 2003-04 - Green Bay Packers (DVD)
Despite being a Minnesota Vikings fan through and through, it speaks to the good production value and nostalgia of this DVD that I can still enjoy it.
As a Vikes fan, my team's fate is inexorably linked with the men in Green Bay, so the nostalgic factor is still very much present. It's always fun to look back and laugh (or cry, or cheer, etc.) at the old days, and this DVD provides exactly that for the 2003 Green Bay Packers season. From the opening-season struggles to the midseason push to the death of Brett Favre's father (and the ensuing wonder-game against Oakland) and finally the miraculous entrance into the playoffs (after the Vikings lost in Arizona), this highlight reel touches on all the important facets of the year. Sure, it is quite short (just over 20 minutes), but remember, these highlight videos are made for half-hour TV slots, not full-length production. That kind of treatment is usually only given to championship teams. Thus, if you are a GB Packer fan (or a football fan in general looking for a little nostalgia), this short-and-sweet DVD will be a fun little experience for you.

Is that all there is? 18 games, an hour long each, an entire season, and they could only come up with 22 minutes of highlights? Somebody got lazy. Granted there are some very memorable moments highlighted on this DVD: Ahman Green's team records, Brett Favre's miraculous game against Oakland after the death of his father, an improbable division title after the Vikings collapse in Arizona, and the overtime playoff victory against Seattle.
For the price, this DVD should have been at least an hour long. I would like to see NFL films combine 5 years worth of team season highlights, or maybe 10 years (by era). At 20 minutes each they could put 5 years on one DVD, and the chapters could be created by year. That would be a better value, and take up less space on my shelf.
