This game in my opinion has it all from the different camera angles, authenic stadium sound affects like the big organ horn in Chicago to the Coyotes howl in Phoenix aftew a goal is score how more authenic can you get. I'm a huge hockey fan, actually purchased all the 2000 hockey games this season and this one is my favorite. The players skate so effortlessly actually feel like they are gliding, the checks are devastating and the commentary is excellent even with voice inflections on breakaways or huge stops. The only fault is the graphics compare to NHL 2000 or Fox NHL are a little choppy not as crisp, but it makes up with it's outstanding game play You can play all the teams in this game also during a season mode and pick what jersey your team will suit up in. If you only want to buy one game this year, not like me who own all three this would be my choice. I actually sold NHL 2000 to a friend my least favorite of the 3.

When I finally decided to buy a new hockey game for my playstation (the last hockey game I owned was NHL '95 for SNES) I did a lot of scouting around. Many magazines claimed that NHL 2000 was far better. So I took their word for it and boy were they wrong! When the players skate, they look like they are walking on the ice, but in Faceoff 2000, they move eloquently with side pushes and turns. Sometimes if I am moving a player from a stand still, it seems it will take him a second to get moving. However, this could be the effects of my Dual shock controller that has been used so much, it looks like one of those over-used worn down Best Buy controllers. The announcer is pretty cool, but like some football games, the comments are often a second off the events taking place. Replays are in nice detail but are not always so smooth. Overall, if you love hockey games or just want a game that you can pick up and play and have fun, then this is a game for you.

The game is very entertaining. However, I have found that at certain times the play by play calls incorrect names for players and does not pronounce certain Team names correctly. Instead of Philadelphia the game says adelphia. The all-star level is too easy. Overall it is an improvement from the 99 version.

This latest installment of NHL Faceoff proves to be the best yet. Although I found it much easier to score goals than I did in last year's, the play is more well rounded than before. For instance, defensemen can actually score on this one from the blue line. That's never been an option in a hockey video game. That is just one example though. This game is by far the most fun, and addictive hockey game to date.

I have been a NHL series fan from the start. I had the 96, 97, and 98 NHL games for sega. I loved those games so much. The gameplay was amazing. I recently got the NHL 2000 for playstation, thinking that it would be the same game just with better graphics. I was way off. That game is terrible. The only half desent thing about that game is that the replays are well designed. One of my friends was having a birthday and he also lover the NHL series for sega so i was going to get him a hockey game. The only problem was ..., I didn't know what to get him. I saw FaceOff 2000 and I thought, why not give it a try. Later that week at his birthday party when we started playing it, I relized that this was the best hockey I have ever played. The next day I went and bought it for myself. I don't know why it is so great. The graphics are pretty good and the controls are amazing, but besides that it is just a great game. I would recommend this game to anyone that has playstation, it doesn't matter if you like hockey or not.

I recently had the chance to play faceoff and it was perhaps the smoothest game I have ever played, and I dont even like hockey! The graphics arent the best, but the control is so good that it dosent seem to matter. If you only buy one sport game for the play station I would hope that it would be this one.

I have been buying EA Hockey for a while and thought I'd change . . . big mistake. The graphics and play are much worse.

This game was just allright. I was expecting more teams and more options, such as a pelanty shot section and secret codes. The best assest of the game is that it is very fast paced. They could have done much more w/ it though.

HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE THIS GAME. THE BEST A.I.(I HAVE YET TO TRY CHAMPIONSIP2000). THE GAMEPLAY IS FAST AND REALISTIC, THE SCORING DOESNT GET OUT OF HAND LIKE NHL 2000. THE SCORING LEADERS ARE REALISTIC WITH JAGR BLOWING EVERYONE AWAY. THE STAT TRACKING IS EXCELLENT AND INCLUDES HITS FOR EVERY PLAYER THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. FOR YOUR MONEY FACEOFF 2K IS THE WAY TO GO THIS YEAR ATLEAST.

This game is nowhere near as good as I expected to be! The graphics are worst, and the game is slower. I thought it was going to be like most other games from 989 sports, but I was sadly mistaken! If you are going to buy a NHL game this year, you may want to look elsewhere!
