This game is _awsome_. The play isn't particularly faithful to the actual sport, but as a video game, it's killer. It's fun enough as a one player game, but the more people you play with, the better it gets. I never write reviews, but people have to know that this is one of the best sports games ever. The word must get out.

Hey I got this game for Christmas and it is one of the best hockey games ever made. The puck physics are great (i.e.; the puck never goes through players), the announcer is hilarious, and the controls are simple yet the game isn't too easy. The new franchise mode is great and the mini games are fun to play even with one player. And of course, you can check people through the glass which is great. The fights could use a little work; they are the exact same thing from the 2002 game. The action is smooth; the game never gets choppy and the graphics are great. And of course, the soundtrack is awesome with songs from Hoobastank, Powerman 5000, and Rob Zombie. This is a must for casual and die-hard hockey fans alike.

This game is a great upgrade from last year. The Franchise mode is one of the best in any video game. You have to build your new franchise up from scratch playing local ice rink teams, all the way up to NHL Teams. And it's not easy either. One Problm with EA's NHL series, was that it was to easy to score. In this game, you really have fight your way to the net to score. This game is one of the most original games on the market. NHL 2003 has really hit the spot here. This shows in the helmets falling off (my 2nd favorite part). My favorite thing is smashing people through the glass. I like how they have set up the franchise mode. This game is a must have!

Put simply, if you like arcade style sports games then you will not want to miss this game. It's fun to play alone, but even better when you play multiplayer.

I was growing tired of the recent crap that EA sports creates for hockey. So, I tried this game and was blown away. The action is incredible - it's fast, enjoyable, and has a great feel to it. The game has plenty of mode options like season, tourney, franchise and more. I was always a traditionalist, and never tried the Hitz/Blitz collection. But this is a must buy!

I went to a friends house and played this game for 2 hours....and we never got bored. From being able to smack your opponents out of the ring to setting up beautiful one timers, this game will blow your mind. if you dont buy this game....YOUR IN FOR A SMACK DOWN BY THE DEEBERS!!

This is not a faithful simulation of the NHL game. This is an arcade game, and a great one at that. The skills required to play well are intuitive and quickly learned but still reward a degree of expertise, particularly on defense. As with the game itself, hitting and shooting are the highlights, and NHL Hitz' crisp passing and smooth player control lend themselves to emphasizing these aspects. The franchise mode is highly entertaining.

Im a big fan of hockey.....and I loved this game, everyone so far has given it big numbers and they arent wrong....my ONLY fault with the game is that there are only 5 players on the ice (including the goalie) there should be 6....but other than that I love it. I especially like the mardi gras heads you can add to your player to make them look all crazy and you can adjust the players size and face and even sex? (either this game is sorta Politically correct or women will soon be joining the NHL hehe) I liked the nicknames you can give your players too. I really like being able to make your own team with its original uniforms and name,and you can buy improved equipment and enhance your players abilities as they gain experience.....the game is easy to get the hang of and lots of fun on all levels....its easy at first but gets REALLY hard as you go on...so it kinda eases you into wanting to play more to improve your team and take on harder and harder challenges. I just rented this game from blockbuster video but I would like to buy it....I didnt want to bring it back hehe I only played with one player but I could see this game being GREAT at parties hehe. It even has good music from contemporary bands, makes me feel like im going to the hockey game.....all in all one of the better games for the PS2 ive played so far, I think computer games may eventually replace movies for entertainment because you dont have to just passivly just sit there and zone out and drool in front of the screen....you actually affect the outcome of whats going on in front of you...but you know that already hehe

i'll tell you right now iam not a big hockey fan but HOLY crap, my friend came over and brought this game with him, we played it for about 2 hours before he had to go... ITS INCREDIBLE! i have probably only seen about 3 hockey games in my entire life, i know nothing about hockey but you dont have to to play this game! its flat out excellent. The day my freind left the whole night i thought about how i had to get Hitz 03' the next day i went to best buy and bought the game, it was worth EVERY PENNEY. even if you dont like hockey you will still like this game, the players interact, you can see thier mouths moving as they are getting into fights, at the face off they push each other around, and the ref separates the two guys apart, ITS SO AWSOME. you can slam guys through the glass and check a guy so hard his helmet goes flying off. Seriously if you are thinking about getting this game dont waste another second, buy it now even if you dont like hockey
