Product Description

NHL 98 features much faster and refined gameplay (now using four action keys instead of two, removing the need to double-tap to perform some actions), along other new features such as "in-the-fly" tactics developed by Marc Crawford, then manager of the Colorado Avalanche and new commentary lines from Jim Hughson and Darryl Reaugh and a re-worked interface. Graphics are improved from the previous version with the players being less angular, and thanks to 3Dfx support, with less pixels showing in the textures. The in-game presentation follows a TV-style script, zooming in players while displaying stats during clock stoppages. ------------------- As far as game modes go, in the year of the first Olympic Tournament with professional players, NHL 98 introduced the first real international competition, with 18 International teams to choose from. Other game modes include Season (option to pick between 25 or 82 games) and Playoff (best of 1, 3, 5 or 7 matches) and a Penalty Shootout mode.

Sega Genesis Review : As a veteran video game collector and player i have to admit that this game has.. what any hockey player would want on a console ps2 or ps3 game , but with the quicker task of just plugging in the Sega Genesis Cartridge. It has 3 different levels of play , rookie , veteran , and Allstar . It has 3 diffrerent gamespeeds slow ( which i consider normal yet fast ) , normal , and high which makes a crazy fast game . And it has coaching styles of gameplay to set each line to play aggresively or passive in offensive and defensive formations depending on which mode your line is in ... say .. pp , ppk of first line , second line . This to me , is the most rewarding point of playing hockey in this fashion as you are able to read to style of the opposing team and then adjust your line on the fly to respond better . I recommend this game as i play a full season every year and each time never getting same result especially when you can trade players through the season if you want to . Cool Huh ?

i think this game is 10 times better than any playstation hockey game! you can fight, check, and do all that other stuff. a very awsome and simple game. i still play it. it's just an awsome game, that you can find anywhere for a cheap price. it's better than the playstation hockey games...

While the game underneath here is completely awesome, it is a little bit dated. It is not near as good as the new playstaion stuff, but it is still simple fun. The graphics push the Genesis to a pulp, and NHL has never looked better. Good, but a little bit dated.
