High quality 2-way system designed for easy installation in nearly every room

2-Way In-Ceiling Design

Don't let the price fool you, the iC1 is a very high quality 2-way system, employing a 6.5" polypropylene woofer and a coaxially mounted 1" silk dome tweeter, all managed by a very high quality 2nd order crossover network. The drive units are moisture resistant, all the hardware is stainless steel and the frame is polypropylene and the mounting lip is gasketed which allows use in bathrooms, patio and other high moisture areas. A proprietary diffuser is also included for the inside grill center which provides a smooth response when a listener is located directly under the speaker.

Easy Installation and Long Life

The iC1, like all NHT architectural speakers, is ruggedly built and designed for easy installation by a qualified AV installer or by a handy homeowner. A convenient cardboard template is included for the wall board cutout to make installation location and retrofit (existing construction) cutting easier. The iC1 has a fail-proof, 4-point spring-loaded, dog-ear clamping system that grabs the ceiling material like a politician at a BBQ -- even when the mounting surface is uneven. The springs "pre-load" maintains the pressure and seal with the ceiling surface and therefore eliminates the speaker from coming loose, paint lines from cracking, breach the air seal and cause acoustic rattles over the life of the installation. This feature is important because typical sheetrock compresses when clamped--non-spring loaded, rigid clamping systems can become loose over time. The speaker terminals are easy to use spring-loaded, push-to-open types which will also maintain contact with the speaker wire over the life of the installation and can make installing the iC1 easier when you up on a ladder near the ceiling.

Paintable Grills for Custom Room Designs

The iC1 frame and grill is painted with a neutral white primer and may be painted to match with typical latex paints. When painting, the grill and speaker frame are painted separately. A convenient cardboard paint shield is included to protect the drive units when painting the speaker frame.

Custom Framing Bracket Available

For new construction, NHT makes the iCB6 (sold separately): a new construction framing bracket which allows you accurately place the iC series of speakers during the framing stages of construction, much like a recessed lighting fixture. The iCB6 provides a downward lip that the sheetrock or wall finishing crew flushes up to to - providing a perfect mounting for the iC1, 2 or 3 - it fits all three models. Please note: the iCB6 is NOT required for retrofit installations in existing ceilings and walls.

I got turned on to NHT years ago by an audiophile that was helping me get pro level stuff for consumer level prices. Since then I have outfitted three large homes with Nht speakers and couldn't be more pleased. The speakers are extremely well made, easy to install, and they sound great!
