Nifty Expadable Roasting Rack

I ordered this rack as a replacement rack for my 22 qt. Rival roaster oven. It is nice and sturdy and fits my oven perfectly. I love that it is expandable, making it more versatile to use w/other size roasting pans in a conventional oven, as well.

We decided this year to give the Alton Brown roast turkey a try. One thing that I didn't have was a roasting rack. I set out in search of the same one that he used with no success of finding it. The next best thing is this rack. I was a little concerned that it wouldn't be large enough for the 20lb turkey we were roasting. In use it turned out to plenty long but a little narrow. The wings ended up resting on and sticking to the baking sheet. I was able to cut them free with little trouble. The other complaint I had with this rack involves the handles. Specifically that they swing out flat when not being used to lift the turkey. This tended to get in the way a bit when moving the bird into the oven. I would still rather have these handles than no handles at all like some other racks. I would give this rack five stars if it were a little wider and if the handles would stay more vertical when not in use.

i didn't want a non-stick coated rack; didn't want a non-adjustable rack. DID want a rack with small raised feet/bumps and sturdy handles that was easy to clean and adjustable. it's just perfect. it even fit my small oval roaster (though i measured it wrong).

I haven't used this rack yet (waiting for Turkey Day) but overall seems sturdy. I feel that this will work just perfectly and it fits several baking dishes. I like the fact that it expands by length.

Bought it for the vacation home - to fit various sizes of roasting pans. Worked very well for the Christmas Prime Rib roast. The handles make it handy to lift the meat out of the pan, leaving the drippings for gravy. The metal could be more substantial, but it washed well in the dishwasher. Let's see if it rusts.

Bought this rack to replace the original one that came with my roaster that disappeared during a company potluck. I didn't think it would be big enough or strong enough to hold a large heavy turkey. But it worked wonderfully well. It lifted my 21 pound stuffed turkey without any problems. I am very happy with it's performance. In fact I think I like it better than the original, it's small and not as bulky, easier to clean and works just as good if not better.

I had destroyed a friends borrowed roasting rack from her roaster, so I bought her this to replace it. It's a little smaller than I had expected, even when fully "expadable" enabled, but it would work for all but a very large bird or a full prime rib. Standard hams, ribs and turkeys will be fine on this. It seems pretty sturdy too. Only thing is, my friend says she never owned a roasting rack, but thanks anyway.

I purchased this item because last year I discovered Alton Brown's Turkey Brine Recipe or as it is referred to on Food Network: The Good Eats Roast Turkey Recipe. With over 2,200 reviews at the time I am writing this, that recipe is a winner and I will never cook turkey again any other way. In the videos in which Alton so entertainingly lays out his Perfect Turkey instructions, he uses a turkey roasting rack that I have been looking for everywhere. He cooks the turkey in a flat pan with the turkey sitting on a rack just like this one. I could not find the exact roasting rack that Alton Brown uses on the show, but I think this is a good replacement. I am looking forward to using it this Thanksgiving!

The size of the rack would have really helped. I had to return it for it did not fit my pan size.
