Amazon and buyers, read carefully and get it right!
Hey Amazon and their buyers! Read carefully before you advertise, buy or write a review! Silverline does NOT advertise these DVD releases as DVD-Audio, Amazon does! The case reads "DVD Music," which is accurate. They offer Dolby Digital and DTS audio formats, like many movies. It is only a true DVD-Audio disc if it reads "DVD-Audio Advanced...

Be honest on the format you are selling!
It is all here: a beautiful compilation from the Italian greats, like Vivaldi, Albinoni, and Verdi. But what I find detracting from this respectable, well - orchestrated collection is the fact that it comes in compressed formats, such as Dolby Digital or DTS. There is no true, uncompressed DVD Audio, despite the fact that it is advertised as a DVD Audio disc. For anyone...

This review is from: NIGHT IN ROME (DVD)
Hey Amazon and their buyers! Read carefully before you advertise, buy or write a review! Silverline does NOT advertise these DVD releases as DVD-Audio, Amazon does! The case reads "DVD Music," which is accurate. They offer Dolby Digital and DTS audio formats, like many movies. It is only a true DVD-Audio disc if it reads "DVD-Audio Advanced Resolution," with those specific logos present! Many stores lump DVD-Audio and DTS/Dolby Digital music discs together, which causes the confusion. Click on the larger image of the Teldec releases, for instance. The DVD-Audio logos are present. These are true DVD-Audio discs. But Amazon, when you click on the larger image of a Silverline release, there is no mention of "DVD-Audio." However, on the main page for each individual Silverline release, you STILL advertise them as DVD-Audio! This is false advertising! Why don't you remove the mention of DVD-Audio on those specific pages? Or make the category "DVD-Audio/DTS/Dolby Digital Music." Reviewers, don't disparage the manufacturer, and possibly hurt their sales. I own several of these discs, and they're fine recordings, for what they truly are! Not for what you have assumed they were supposed to be!

There is no true, uncompressed DVD Audio, despite the fact that it is advertised as a DVD Audio disc. For anyone that has heard DVD Audio surround, as opposed to Dolby surround, there is a clear difference. By being clearer in what is being called DVD Audio, I might have better used my purchase to acquire a classical video performance or a real DVD Audio disc, instead of this good compilation but, otherwise, compromised musical format.

Not a DVD-audio disk, May 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: NIGHT IN ROME (DVD)
This is not a DVD-audio disk depsite the label that says so. The music is not bad but does not sound the way you'd expect. The DTS track is inferior in quality to some pop DTS audio disks I have.
