Nikon ProStaff riflescopes accommodate most hunting styles, with enough power for long-range shots and a wide field of view for thick brush and timber. The 4-12x40mm model gives hunters and shooters the power and versatility they need for any hunt, at an affordable price point.

The scope features a multicoated lens system for up to 90% light transmission, a bullet drop compensating (BDC) reticle for easy holdover out to 600 yards (magnum calibers), and precise 1/4 MOA reticle adjustments. The BDC reticle is perhaps the most compelling feature, as its trajectory-compensating system is designed and calibrated to provide fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances. The unique system integrates a series of small "ballistic circles" to produce an unobstructed view of the target.

The scope's high-performance lenses, meanwhile, are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast to pull game out of its surroundings, deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality. The combination of a Nikon Prostaff 4X12 with a Remington 700 SPS Tactical Rifle in .223 is unbeatable. Once zeroed, hits out to 500 yards become routine. 1" groups at 400 yards are routine as well. Optics are incredible bright and clear.

This scope is everything I hoped it would be. Fog and water proof, clear with good light gathering, looks nice too. I intentionally didn't get BDC because its a farce. Every bullet and every gun are different. Knowing what a computer tells you your ballistics and bullet drop are don't compensate for practice and knowing the tragectory from experience. This scope is awesome...not even for the money, its just a good scope. Buy it!

This scope does not have the Nikon BDC system even though when reading the description we got the distinct impression that it does. That is why my husband had chosen this one because from the pictures and the description of the Bullet Drop Compensating Reticle he thought this scope would be everything he wanted. We kept it because it was too much trouble to send back, and it is a good scope; after all it is Nikon. We were just very disappointed in Amazon allowing misleading information in a product description. Hope this helps!
