I bought this scope to use for 3 gun matches. I like it very much for a basic scope. Great clarity and brightness, good eye relief distance. The reticle is a little large for greater that 100 yds but great for 100 in to close. Great scope for the money.

Just want to begin with the fact that i am by no means a professional shooter i own a couple of guns and have attached this to my Sig 556. this scope is everything i wanted as a beginner. it is very bright with what i think Nikon claims as 95% light transmission you can effectively shoot from dawn till dusk. very accurate, after my initial zero in i have sent about 300 rounds down range and have made minimum adjustments if any my girlfriend can group rounds within 3 inches at 50 yards using wal-mart ammo. also very solid platform the craftsmanship is top notch and when paired with the Nikon m-223 mount this scope gives you more MOA to play with but since this is a 1-4x20 scope and i imagine most shooters will be operating within 50-300yd range the MOA is not as important as the solid design and awesome aesthetics, but i digress. Awesome buy for the money if you are looking for affordable top notch equipment for .223/5.56 AR style rifle.

I bought this for my Ruger SR-556 AR15. It's my second Nikon scope and I was very pleased. I bought the Nikon AR-15 scope base as well. At the range after a few adjustments I was shooting within half an inch of the "x" in the center of the bullseye at 50 yards. I bought the 1-4X model, so at 100 yards the bullseye definitely was not huge in the recticle (if you're used to say a 3-9x scope), but shooting 1.5 inch groups was still no problem. When I was dead on at 50 yards the shots were about an inch high at 100 yards - EXACTLY what the ballistics chart predicted. Acquisition is very fast - especially at 1X. After about 200 rounds the scope was still dead on, so the scope and the mount are very good quality. If you're target shooting or hunting I'd consider the 2-7x model, but for tactical situations - where acquiring the target is important - I think it would be tough to beat the 1-4x model, especially at this price.
