Hi!
I saw a review of someone saying it dried out their scalp. I haven't had that problem...much quite the opposite! They seemed to be using a different System than I am and maybe it's not the right one for them, as they have many. Here is my suggestion and what I do...

Try using the System 1 of Nioxin. I use a combo of the Cleanser, as a shampoo (for fine hair - which is also Normal to Thin-Looking Hair). I use this first, then I use the Scalp Therapy as I would a conditioner, and then once I have towel dried my hair, I spray in the Scalp Treatment and just massage it through all my hair and then use a comb to make sure I get all of my hair covered evenly.
I'm 52 years of age and was born with thin hair to begin with. My hair started receding and getting even thinner than it was. Once I used the combination of these 3 products of Nioxin - System 1, I noticed a difference in my hair's appreance and it felt so sily smooth, but yet with some volume added so it didn't look near as thin as it was.
It does have a very cooling/tingling sensation and a minty smell to it. The tingling sensation is like a massage on my scalp. It's the best thing I have ever used, especially with all three combined after each hair-washing.
I also still continue to blow-dry my hair, but on a low/warm setting. While drying my hair, I lift my hair in an upward swoop. This seems to be what makes it look thicker with a look of volume.
After the 1st week of using these products, I'm already noticing a difference in my hair and actually some new hair growth. Nothing tremendos as of yet since it takes hair a while to grow back anyway....but all the same...it's actually growing back in places where it was really getting bad.
I'm going to continue using this product for about a year and see how much has grown back. But until then, it smells and feels great to my scalp and looks so much better which makes me feel like facing the world again!

My suggestion would be to go to a Reputable Salon that is trained in this product. Have them look at your hair and then tell them what kind of results you are trying to achieve.

I'm not too sure whether I like this product or not. When I first started using Nioxin products I originally used the products for normal hair (System 1) and I liked them. Then I realized I was actually supposed to be using the system 2 items for for my hair and when I started using the Scalp Activating treatment it made my hair feel very stiff like it was full of hairspray. Granted it made my hair feel thicker and possibly look thicker but I do not like the way it feels in my hair. I don't know if this is due to my hair being long (about shoulder length) or not. Even as I continue to use it, it does not seem to change or get any better.

I've used it for about 7 months. If there is any difference, I am losing more hair!!

I've used this product for six months and have hair growth in an area of my scalp that I haven't had in +/- 20 years.

- Although the displayed picture is for a slightly different product, the product I ordered was delivered promptly.
- The best part of my story is that this product was back-ordered; but the seller notified in advance on when that may be in stock and that expectation was actually met. This experience was unlike many other times when sellers could not meet their promised delivery dates.
- The displayed picture needs to be corrected though; it had confused me during order entry. I had notified Amazon thru e-mail and they confirmed that it would be updated on the site.

I have not noticed great improvement in my hair but at least it is a pretty shampoo and conditioner. The effects on hair growth will have to wait.

I've been using Nioxin products since I started noticing thinning around Junior year of college, and will continue to use it for a while. The product recommendation came from my parents, both of whom who are hairstylists - and my dad in particular with over 30 years experience. I've been on the number 2 system for the majority of that time (started with number one for early stage thinning) and it has done a great job of preventing (read: slowing) the hair loss process, while providing fullness and volume to help cover up what's already been lost - all that coupled with a good haircut and it's been really easy to mask the thinning. Most of the men in my family (both sides) were all pretty much completely bald, or had very visibly thin hair by the time they were my age (late 20's) - I still have a decent bit that I can still style and be comfortable with, a quality which I attribute to this product. All in all, if you're willing to make the investment for an extending period of time, it's well worth it - ESPECIALLY if you want to avoid libido-killing drugs like finasteride.

This product has been extremely helpful to me in getting my hair to grow back a little. I still have some bald spots that have not totally grown in, but for most part the hair is filling in slowly. However, the results is what I expected and I would recommend this product to anyone has hair loss.

A friend gave me this product for my birthday for me to try it out. She claims that she sees "baby hairs" coming out of her scalp. I am personally not sure if I have baby hairs growing but I love the fact that this product seems to give my hair more volume...so at least the hair seems more controllable and fuller...

I don't really think I've been using the system long enough to know for sure that it's actually working or not. But it seems like I've been losing less hair in the shower and it does seem a little fuller. So far I'm happy, but only time will tell!
