The devotional readings in and of themselves were very encouraging. They definitely touched upon topics that would be near and dear to homeschool moms' hearts. Each one started with a Bible verse, gave an anecdote/story, related the anecdote to one's daily life/homeschool journey, and then ended with a prayer. There were 365 dated readings--one for each day of the year. Additionally, a topical index at the back of the Bible pointed to specific subjects covered in the devotional readings. I was expecting something more from this Bible, though. I had anticipated a Bible that expertly integrated Bible verses on the corresponding page with the text of the related devotional, a Bible that used each individual book's introduction to specifically delve into topics related to homeschooling or raising children, and a Bible that even had little side notes related to homeschooling dispersed throughout the Biblical text. However, this Bible had none of those features. This Bible was basically a plain ol' Bible with devotional readings for every single day of the year randomly placed throughout it. While there is nothing wrong with a plain ol' Bible, I would expect a Bible with a specialty title to have a little bit more to it. Interestingly, the devotionals weren't even remotely related to anything in the book of the Bible where they were placed. There weren't even any study notes. The books of the Bible didn't even have introductions to them. An introduction to each book of the Bible would have been a great place to relate something from that book to the task of raising our children, being moms, enduring in this journey, or teaching our kids to grow in the fear and admonition of the Lord, but there was none of that.Read more ›

Depending on your preference there are various ways to enjoy these devotions for homeschool mammas. You have the option of just a devotional book or the Bible with the devotions throughout in NIV or KVJ. There is also the option of hardcover or leatherbound and now I think there is even the option of a compact version verses the standard size. Specifically I have my hand on a pink leather-bound New International Version (NIV) Bible. It's a standard size and the material is buttery soft. The interior is black text with tones of grey in embellishments on borders and edges. This is not a red-letter Bible. In the very end of the book there are several blank pages for notes. The NIV leatherbound is very attractive and I believe the KJV will be just as much.

The Homeschool Mom's Bible could easily by the main or only BIble you use. Personally I'm a bit of a Bible collector and I have experienced some Bibles that are good for a purpose, but I wouldn't necessarily use them as my main Bible (Archaeological Study Bible-NIV: An Illustrated Walk Through Biblical History and Culture, etc). The Homeschool Mom's Bible is simple and has all the scripture of a NIV Bible plus daily devotions meant specifically for homeschool moms. I've never really experienced something like this before. I've read plenty of blogs so I know the support of homeschool moms is out there, but to have it laid out and daily date for a grab, flip and read is very simple and convenient. It works well for a busy mama!

This Bible has been such a blessing to me. Every devotional is an encouragement to me as a homeschool mom. I purchased the ebook version, and it is pretty easy to navigate through to the devotion for the day. I highly recommend this for all moms who homeschool.

I received a copy of this book free of charge from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review.

I love Bibles! I feel like I probably have way too many of them especially when so many around the world do not have them. I love Bibles. They are probably one of my favorite things. I love how publishers take them and add extra things in them and make them more packed with good things that go alongside Bible study. So naturally I was so excited to review this one. Also, I am a homeschooling mom.

I found this one to be okay. I was not thrilled but it was not bad either. I can see a place for it. I think my expectations were the devotionals included in it would line up with the Scriptures that were directly surrounding it. That did not happen. This particular product is a Bible with 365 days worth of devotions packed in. They were fine for homeschool moms. Just not particularly matched with the surrounding Scriptures where they were located.

The good thing about it is it would be nice to have daily encouragement as a homeschool mom. Opening up daily to that encouragement is a good thing. It does seem however that these devotionals could have been printed as a booklet separately.

Homeschooling moms have a unique combination role in life ~ not only are they mothers who are working to raise their children to be healthy, functional adults, they're also the primary educators working to prepare their children for college, readying them to be healthy, functional contributors to society as a whole. We have the daunting task of moving our children to a place where they can impact their world for Christ and His Kingdom. What a huge job homeschooling moms have! We certainly can use all the encouragement we can get!

The Homeschool Mom's Bible offers that encouragement. Daily devotionals are dated, interspersed throughout the text of the Bible. They're just short enough to ensure a busy mom won't skip over reading them due to their length; and they're meaty enough to drive home key points and encouragement. (All the devotions were penned by Janet Tatman, a veteran homeschooling mother with more than 25 years of homeschooling experience.)

The Bible itself is a standard NIV Bible. It isn't a study Bible, so don't expect loads of footnotes and extras. It simply does what it sets out to do ~ encourage homeschool moms in their day-to-day life. And it does that very well. I really recommend this Bible for all homeschooling women. The devotions are often exactly what is needed on a specific day, and I'm all about women staying in the Word, so how could I not enthusiastically endorse the Bible?!? If you're in want of a Bible, or searching for daily encouragement, you won't go wrong with The Homeschool Mom's Bible.
