From the Publisher

What is it that makes The Student Bible the most widely chosen Bible among high school and college students? It's so accessible, so easy to use and understand! Featuring notes by award-winning authors Philip Yancey and Tim Stafford, it addresses the three most common reasons students give that they don't read their Bibles: 1. I can't understand it.

The Student Bible makes understanding easy with Highlights and Insights--in-text notes that explain difficult verses, point out important facts, and encourage reflection. 2. I can't find it.

The exclusive Subject Guide points the reader to the Bible's message on topics of interest to today's student. 3. The Bible is too big and intimidating.

The unique 3-Track Reading Plan offers a choice of 2- or 3-week, 6-month, or 3-year programs to allow the reader to achieve reading goals at his or her own pace. And now The Student Bible includes the text of the updated New American Standard Bible (NASB), the most literal English translation on the market today. Using the formal equivalence approach to translation, the NASB is perfect for conservative evangelical readers who prefer a direct, word-for-word rendering of the Bible. Besides those described above, The Student Bible--NASB also offers all the other outstanding features that have made The Student Bible a consistent best-seller since 1986: ? Book introductions and overviews ? 100 People You Should Know--providing insight into the lives and faith of important Bible people ? Also includes: Glossary of Nonbiblical People and Places, Well-Known Biblical Events, Some Notable Psalms, and Lineup of Rulers ? 16 pages of full-color maps ? Black-letter edition --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars For anyone... christian or not, July 8, 2001
By
Cal (Iowa USA) - See all my reviews
This bible is a good place for anyone in the world to start learning about the christian religeon.

For christians, its absolutely an excellent resource. Aside from being an easy to read New International Version of the bible, it includes advice on how to deal with day to day events, excellent interpretations of certain passages, and helpful ways of getting you through reading the entire bible, or even certain books of it, without feeling bogged down.

For non-christians, who are simply interested in learning more about christianity, or maybe just the old testament (the history of Judaism, and the beginning of christianity, through prophets), this bible gives you excellent background information. The bible also features maps of the different settings in the bible (excellent for anyone), timelines of the prophets (excellent for anyone as well...), and an index that allows you to look up a certain topic quickly!

Before purchasing this bible, I had little interest in reading the bible atall. I would recommend this version to anyone in need of a little "drive" to get going!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bible and Good Navigation, June 18, 2011

This review is from: NIV Student Bible (Kindle Edition)
The NIV Student Bible for Kindle is a great Bible. The navigation is very good. The Table of Contents is very easy to use. In the Table of Contents it is easy to cursor to the line you want and if you select a book of the Bible it will show the chapters that you can select to link directly to that chapter. The study notes also works well on the Kindle. This Bible is one of the best Kindle Bibles that I have seen.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Good Book, February 28, 1999
By A Customer
With an atlas, index, three reading plans, and topical inserts this is a good resource for any Bible reader not just students. However, without a concordance I can not give it 5 stars.
