The New International Version (NIV) is today’s most read and most trusted English Bible translation. The goal of the NIV translation team was to produce a contemporary translation whose accuracy, clarity and literary quality would make it ideal for public and private reading, teaching, preaching, memorizing, and liturgical use. Today the NIV is accepted by more denominations than any other translation and is supported by a library of reference resources unmatched by any other translation.

"Concerned Mom's" review piqued my interest, and here's why: I'm worried because my daughter goes to a public high school, and I know she's dealing with this stuff every day. One of the girls in her class is pregnant (at age 16), and she knows a few kids who say they're gay. It terrifies me what she hears at school and from her friends, and I know I can't protect her from that. I feel like we as Christian parents often stick our heads in the sand and pretend these issues don't exist, but we do our kids a huge disservice when we ignore their very real issues and let the world answer the questions for them. I suppose this Bible may be too "real-life" for some sheltered girls out there, but I know that this is exactly what I want my daughter to have-a Bible that tells her what God says about these hot topics. I bought the Bible for my daughter, and she loves it. I am so grateful that someone had the creativity and the courage to write something that's so right on with where girls are today.

I got this Bible when I was 16 and I wouldn't give it to anyone younger unless they were mature enough to handle the topics inside. I think that it's not wrong for these subjects to be brought up, but if it's something a girl has never been exposed to, then it certainly can be damaging.

I personally have enjoyed what I've read within my Bible. I learned about things my own family wasn't willing to talk to me about. I think it's good so girls can know what the Bible says about things that affect us in our world today.

Like another person said, the cover could do with a makeover. It is quite misleading.

I got a couple of these for young friends who are interested in reading the Bible. The Reina-Valera version is so complicated, and a big thick impersonal book is intimidating and uninviting for a vibrant young girl.

This True Images Bible is very attractive and inviting for young girls, and I am certain that my young friends will enjoy reading this.

The book is peppered with focus stories, commentaries and other effects that facilitate the reader to contemplate how the related Bible passages relate to them and their lives. These commentaries deal with subjects like God's love, prayer, immigration, loneliness, family, drugs, various topics related to sex and dating as well as other topics of interest to young people.

The sex and dating subjects may cause a parent to have reservations about giving this to their daughter, but they shouldn't. These issues, truth be told, will one day have to be addressed by every young person, and the manner in which these issues are addressed in this book are not inappropriate but addressed in a caring yet direct manner. They could also be used by the concerned parent to facilitate a discussion on these touchy issues.

The book also has a subject index and other useful and interesting features including an explanation of the gospel and an invitation to receive Jesus Christ as personal Savior.

My mother just sent my soon to be 12 year old daughter this Bible. Soon after receiving it, my daughter came to me and said that she didn't think that she should be reading it. My husband and I began reading some of the focus stories and were shocked. Romans 16:19 talks about being innocent as to what is evil and wise as to what is good. The focus stories deal w/ a 15 y.o. girl being pregnant, another one is a girl wondering if she is a lesbian, another one wether having oral sex is OK, etc. I know that not all people see this as a problem but if you do, then do not purchase this bible.

I recently gave this product to two teens I know...very reluctantly. I read through it the day before I handed it over and it is a wonderful bible! You can reference it several ways, according to topic: sex or peer pressure and according to notable women in the bible, books of the bible... At the beginning of each book there are facts about the author and the time in which it was written... and these are just the few things I discovered in my short time reading it. It helps teens to actively read and ask questions... I'm thinking of getting one for myself, and I'm 25!

My 12 year old daughter requested The Teen Study Bible for Christmas. I found True Images when I was looking for the other bible. I thumbed through it and thought she just might like it better. She just loves it, there are loads of quizzes and advice to capture a young teen girls attention. She now reads it every night before bed and shares it with her best friend.

Finally, a Bible with notes that relate directly to teens and the issues they are facing. I work in High School ministry (and used to work in Junior High ministry) and am incredibly happy to find something that finally touches on the hot topics. My girls come to me with moral questions all the time and I am able to give them the Bible and refer them to devotions, etc. relating to that topic. They can see what the Bible says about the issue for themselves.

As for these "concerned" mothers...unless your 10+ daughter has never seen a TV, read a newspaper, or listened to any news radio or other secular radio, she's already heard plenty about sex, homosexuality, and drug issues. Plus, a lot of what kids learn is from their friends, not necessarily their parents. Most kids won't come to their parents to talk to them about these issues. Aren't you glad there is a BIBLE that addresses them? This Bible might not be what you want for your daughter (that's why there are numerous different devotional and study Bibles), but it is still needed for a large number of girls and for those who want to know how to respond to their friends' concerns as well.

There is also a True Images Devotional that I have given to my group of girls. They absolutely love it and we are working through it as a group.
