The worlds first digital photo frame with a motion detection sensor has arrived! The X10A has now also been selected for the Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry "Smart Green Home" Exhibition for 2010. The Motion Detection Sensor delivers two distinct benefits. First it saves energy by only powering on and off when it senses you're nearby. Secondly it provides the highest order of convenience by switching the frame on and off without you having to so much as touch a button! The Motion Detection Sensor is set up to a range of 2.5 metres to avoid movement from far away activating the frame, such as a person just passing by a room. The timer on the sensor can be set from a series of intervals from 1 minute to 24hrs before it switches off after sensing no movement, or the Motion Detection Sensor can be switched off completely and you can use the fully functioning remote control or buttons on the back of the frame. Also with the motion detection system feature activated, once you've loaded your photos onto your frame, you'll never even need to so much as touch your frame to use it! The frame can display your photos in a progressed shuffled order to mix it up a bit or in sequence. You also have the option to display up to four photos at once in Split Screen Mode. The Hi Resolution screen provides a lush large image for your photos, making the most of large mega-pixel images. Additional features include a large internal memory. Video and music direct from your computer to your frame via a USB cable (included). The X10A now also sports the new 'Combo' feature that allows you to place specifically chosen images and music together in a single folder, thus allowing you to essentially create a specific soundtrack for a specific slide show. Ideal for showing off that holiday you just got back from! Remember that connecting the frame to external speakers via the audio jack allows for an even richer sound experience.

I know the motion sensor is supposed to be an energy saving device, which it is (I would guess it saves maybe half the electricity used compared to not having the sensor), but I think the best thing about it is I don't have to bother ever switching it on or off.

I enter my living room it comes on, I leave my living room and it switches off! how cooool!. I update the internal memory about once a month with new photos and that's it. It does have some other unexpected advantages.

Me and the wife like messing around with it, we'll record quick video messages on our camera and stick it on the frame. We then leave the frame in the hallway so when the kids walk through the door late at night they get a 'Why are you home so late message!' and we don't even have to get out of bed!

We're going on holiday next week and we're planning on leaving a video message for any would be burglars that will play when the frame senses them.

I was so proud of myself for researching digital photo frames and finding the NIX brand digital photo frame. I thought I had found just what I wanted in the NIX X10A and ordered it through Amazon last week. All of the other NIX frames I was considering had an aspect ratio of 4:3 which is what I wanted. Nowhere in the discription of the X10A does it give the aspect ratio - at least I can't find it. I was so disappointed when it came today and it has the 15:9 aspect ratio. Why do most of their other frames have the 4:3 but this one has the widescreen? And why don't they make that clear to the buyer? So while this might be a great photo frame (I'm not going to use it) I feel it should have been more clearly described to prevent what is now a very disappointed customer.NIX X10A "Hands Free Frame !" Having seen other pictures electronic picture frames, I really did not expect that much more quality than the average brand most people have. WAS I EVER WRONG!

I ordered this as an Easter gift for my Wife, but it seem I really bought for the both of us! Such vibrant, clear, and colorful images are reproduced! I often find myself daydreaming to when some of the pictures were taken (I have loaded family vacations & cruises on the memory card.)

Let's not forget how "brilliant" the motion sensor is on this device! What a true "treat" it is when walking past, and you are surprised with a fantastic slide-show of your favorite shots (have not tried video yet, but that will be soon!)Then setting a certain amount of time to have it shutoff automatically (if no motion has crossed the sensor) .... superb!

I don't get excited to the point of writing a lengthy review, but I have to say I am so happy that I purchased this item, and will be buying more! Fantastic gift and a true enhancement to the living room and bedroom!


By the way, another "plus" is that on the manufacturer's website ([...]), there was mention of a firmware upgrade. I clicked on the link, which generated an email message, and within a few hours I received the file via email (on a SUNDAY!)
