4.0 out of 5 stars nice starter
I wanted a bible for my children to start reading. I bought this very one for my ten year old son last December and he loves it. It is easy to read, understand, and has suggestions on how to set a goal to read the bible for example grouped by story similarity or by subject. Since he enjoyed his copy so much I am purchasing another for my daughter. The one problem I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Beyond 5 stars for content; 3 stars for production
The NIrV Personal Gift Bible has the same content as the NIV, NASB, KJV, NKJV, etc. The content of this Bible is fantastic. It is considered to be about a 3rd grade reading level and it is good for children and less educated adults. The only problem I have with it is the small print size. I believe it is difficult for young children and older adults to read this small...

However, if one can read the print, it is very easy to read and understand. I do recommend this Bible or the adult version in hardback.

It is easy to read, understand, and has suggestions on how to set a goal to read the bible for example grouped by story similarity or by subject. Since he enjoyed his copy so much I am purchasing another for my daughter. The one problem I have is that it cuts out some of the detail but I think this is done to make it smoother reading. Overall it has become a great tool in our families quest to learn the word of God.

I bought this Bible for my 6yr old daughter for easter and was amazed at the content and structure. The language used is kid friendly. The detail of indexes and maps are great. A great gift item for any child which they will treasure forever God willing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good starter bible, March 13, 2006

This review is from: NIrV Personal Gift Bible (Leather Bound)
The index is not comprehensive, the bible doesn't seem to be built for lasting purposes, but all in all, it is decent for a beginning bible. I bought this thinking it would be something my daughter would keep forever as a keepsake, but this is certainly not that kind of quality. It only has 1-2 maps in it, so it doesn't give a lot of information that way either.

There are no side bars or special sections/reflections for kids...it is just a plain bible. I would have spent more money on a better bible had I known. All depends on what your purpose it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Way To Read This Translation Without Embarrassment, January 30, 2006
One of my favorite translations of the Holy Bible, the NIrV Gift Bible format makes it more accessible for even adults to read it without having to go through buying "kids-oriented" Bibles in order to obtain a copy for personal reading. The text size is rather small, but still readable. For adults who rather have large print, I'd recommend the paperback version from IBSDirect.
