The best for C&R collecting.,
This review is from: NM Gun Collector Software (CD-ROM)
The NM Cun Collector Software is the best I have seen for the firearm collector. Clay has been taking input from the Curio and Relic (C&R) collecting community for many years. He has used this input to build this software up to meet the needs of C&R and firearm collectors in a fabulous way. He has allowed a large community of volunteer testers to always improve in stability and useability. He included reports, forms and functionality to make life easier as well as meet legal requirements. It is intuitive, flexible, and easy to use right from the start. I have been using this software for quite a while and as a software engineer myself (and a collector), I recommend it as a quality product.

Top notch software for the gun collector,

I have been using NM Collector software for about two years. Prior to entering my collection into the database I had only a sketchy (and incorrect) idea of how much my collection was worth and how much I had invested in it. This software is worth the price simply as insurance to make sure your family realizes a fair price should you pass unexpectedly.
The software is easy to use and the support is top notch. The author himself answers tech support email personally (and promptly). He is also responsive to user input and has incorporated suggestions from the collecting community through several upgrades. The report writer makes it easy to generate reports based on any criteria you establish, for example, you can generate a report showing your collection sorted by age or value or the date of purchase. I highly recommend NM Collector software.

NM Gun Collector Software,

Overall I think NM Gun Collector Software is a very well thought out and designed application that is easy to use and understand. Believe me, I have spent far more on items far less productive and useful when it comes to supporting my mil-surp collecting habit. My wife will surely attest to this!

This is the best gun collection database available.,

I tried another well known collectibles program (which cost twice as much) and had problems, got no help and had to trash it. I got NM Gun Collector Software and have had no problems. I jumped right in and started adding data with photos and now have a concise, easy to access database of my collection.

I am the author of this software and try to please everyone but obviously can not. Unfortunately, if a piece of software works as intended but that is not how an individual thinks it should work, they sometimes conclude it has a bug. Occasionally bugs do get through into a released product. Either way, the best course of action is to contact the support person (in this case me) and explain the apparent bug. At least give me a chance to explain the operation or fix the bug before publicly accusing the software of being buggy. If I do not know about it how can I fix it?
Also, sometimes in an attempt to please everybody, there are multiple ways to do the same thing! For example, if that person who was having a problem entering dates would have contacted me I would have explained to him how to enter his dates directly by typing them in without using the calendar control! The calendar control is not the only way to enter dates! Although this is clearly explained in the help and it is obvious to many others who love NM Gun Collector Software, it was not obvious to him. That being the case, all he had to do was contact me for support. My contact information is clearly listed on the CD cover, the CD insert, and in the electronic help files. I would have been more than happy to assist him in doing it! Too bad that instead of giving me a chance to help he chose to publicly diss it instead!!!! Anyway, NM Gun Collector Software is out of date by technology standards so I have discontinued producing it. I have created a whole new software using the latest technology to replace it. I call this new software NM Collector Software JE (Java Edition) or NM Collector JE for short. This new software is not only written using the latest technology, it is also much more flexible than NM Gun Collector Software. It can be run on any platform (Windows, Mac, Linux) and it can be used for any collection type. It is important to note that I do provide a migration path for users of my old NM Gun Collector Software to migrate their data to the new NM Collector Software JE. I do not leave them stranded and force them to re-enter their data if they want to move to the new software. It is available for purchase here on Amazon.com here: NM Collector JE, however, before purchasing it please consider downloading the evaluation version and trying it out on your system before ordering. That way you will know whether or not it works for you before you purchase! If you like it then by all means please come back and purchase it here on Amazon.com! As much as I wish I could, I am not able to please everybody. However, as the next best thing, I do give everybody a chance to evaluate my software before they purchase it. Please take advantage of that opportunity. If you have any issues with the software I do ask that you please let me know so I can try to work them with you! I appreciate the opportunity to work with you as best as I can. It is very frustrating to me when people do not even give me a chance to work with them before they decide to bad mouth my software. Yes, I do take it personally. Thank you for your consideration and support. Sincerely, Clay Pryor

Cumbersome drop down calendar for entering dates.,
By CA (Kal-lee-for-nee-ahhh) - See all my reviews

I really wish there was a different method for selecting the value for the various data fields, such as date of manufacturer or purchase date. Overall the software looked decent.
I wanted to be able to just enter an exact date, but could not do that. Instead the software forces you to use a calendar pop up and scroll through it, month by month, until you get to the particular year, month you want and then select a date. I have C&R firearms that are older than 50 years old, I wasn't about to sit here and scroll back through the calendar a minimum of 600 months to go back 50+ years for the particular date I needed to use. After I discovered that this was the method of entering dates while trying to add my first item into the collection list, I deinstalled the software out of frustration and I'm now looking for something better.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I own about 20 firearms and I wanted something to use to keeps things in order so I bought this NM Gun Collector software. I'm not real happy with it but I'm not disgusted with it either. I think it has some bugs in the software but I'M not an expert. It's ok for what I want out of it.
