5.0 out of 5 stars Makes night time strolls more visible
I got both a red and orange version size large. They work very well. The adjustments were easy and the instructions clear. Once set up were a snap to use. I use these as a secondary collar at night. They come packaged with tight bends in them that prevent the light from traveling the length of the collar. This is easily fixed when the adjustments are being made by warming...

3.0 out of 5 stars Meets the basic need, not bad and not great
I desired a way for vehicle drivers to see my dog when we walk in our rural area at night (off leash). I anticipated the light would be super bright, but it is only moderately bright. Thus, it does serve to allow me to quickly assess the dog's location as headlights appear on the horizon, but I don't believe it enables the drivers to see the dog very well. I consider...

I got both a red and orange version size large. They work very well. The adjustments were easy and the instructions clear. Once set up were a snap to use. I use these as a secondary collar at night. They come packaged with tight bends in them that prevent the light from traveling the length of the collar. This is easily fixed when the adjustments are being made by warming the plastic light bar with a hair dryer until straight. The light bar is easier to remove from the collar if you (1)Slip the battery cover out as instructed until you can get your fingers on the plastic light bar. (2) Hold the light bar and pull the nylon collar by its far end sliding it off the bar. It sticks if you try to push it off. Pulling the battery pack could damage the unit. When you reinsert the light bar it is easier to thread it through the sliding adjustment clasp by pulling about 4 inches or more up through the clasp and then bending it back through the other side. Then proceed with adjusting the size to the length you needed. I adjusted the first collar the hard way. The second one went much easier. Have I mentioned how visible these things are? My dogs glow in the dark woods at night. They can be spotted a long way off. A wonderful accessory for night time walks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Nite Lite!, September 6, 2008
This is the second one of these that I have bought. The first one is in use by my female Cairn Terrier, this one is for my new, bigger male Cairn. They are a great item for these little doggies who are hunters of the night that don't like to come in when they are busy exploring! I can see them from my house at the end of my 200' deep yard! I highly recommend this product to anyone considering it! We do go through lots of batteries, but that is a small price to pay for the security of knowing where my babies are at night!

Thus, it does serve to allow me to quickly assess the dog's location as headlights appear on the horizon, but I don't believe it enables the drivers to see the dog very well. I consider this product acceptable, but not as bright as other reviews have indicated. I got the small size, so maybe the larger ones produce more light than does mine.

I have really gotten a lot of use out of this lighted collar. We do a lot of walking in the evening when it is dark out and many people have said they see it right away. People are always complimenting on how visable it makes my dog. I would recommend this product to any dog owner and have already done so while walking my dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best collar for nighttime, October 25, 2010
This collar is wonderful! Extremely visible in the dark and it's nice to have the two settings of solid and blinking. Definitely measure your dog's neck first because if you buy a size that's too big than you lose some of the light when cutting it to size. I was going to buy the large but the medium ended up being the perfect size for my dog; I didn't even have to adjust it. Love this collar!

2.0 out of 5 stars Upon arrival it didn't work., December 4, 2011

This review is from: Nite Ize NND-03-10L Nite Dawg Light Up Dog Collar, Red Led, Red Webbing, Large (Sports)
I came across this item while hiking with my Lab in the evening. A person I passed had both her dogs outfitted with the collar and I was interested enough to ask. I then ordered one. When it arrived it didn't work. I took the time to troubleshoot it and found the battery was dead. Upon replacing the battery the collar works like a champ. My issue, any item you order should come in new and working order. I could see many of these being returned as faulty when all it was, a dead battery.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing promised battery takes away from 5 stars, December 4, 2011

This review is from: Nite Ize NND-03-10L Nite Dawg Light Up Dog Collar, Red Led, Red Webbing, Large (Sports)
I would rate this collar 5 stars for performance except that when it arrived, it was was missing the all-important battery that the product description stated was included. I was disappointed that I had to purchase a battery from a local store for $12.99 before I could even use the collar! (Expensive battery because it is one of those specialty batteries you find inside wristwatches.) Otherwise, the collar works great--very visible in low light conditions. The darker the surroundings, the brighter the collar appears.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works fine but there are better options, January 10, 2011
This review is from: Nite Ize NND-03-10L Nite Dawg Light Up Dog Collar, Red Led, Red Webbing, Large (Sports)
This item works just the way it's supposed to. It is a good secondary collar to use as a light. It's pretty bright and easy enough to see. My dog has longer hair though and sometimes that fall on top of it which blocks some of the light. Also, it's a little more of a hassle to put this on and off than just leave a light on him all the time. I would reccomend the Nite Ize dog light that is on a caribeaner clip that hooks to the collar over this item. It is bright and hangs down enough where I can usually see him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very visible, but a little troublesome to straighten out, December 11, 2010

This collar illuminates very nicely and is visible from very far away. The only irritating thing about it is that they package the glow tube in a back and forth kinked position, which means that it doesn't run smoothly around your dog's neck. This is a solvable problem by heating the tube (used a hair dryer for a while); but it would be better if this wasn't necessary or they at least provided some instructions on straightening it.

I love this collar and get comments on it all the time. It really lights up when I'm walking my husky/malamute at night. I'm usually afraid the cars might not see her or me, but this collar really gives me an extra level of comfort knowing she's highly visible.

I do wish they would make a LED Harness for large dogs, I think that would be even better with more visibility and control. But, my dog has gone in the water with the collar multiple times and it still works months later. I'm very happy with the prodcut, it was easy to adjust and I have no complaints; it's well worth the money. :)
