The Essex Writers' & Artists' Guild have published a collection of dark fiction by some of their members; short stories based on the concept of "nobody." It seems there is something in the water of the area which also gave birth to the macabre machinations of John Bellairs, Rob Zombie and Christopher Golden (John Greenleaf Whittier also hails from the area, and he was no slouch in supernatural themes either).What could have been a vanity piece of fluff instead is a brilliant collection of dark fiction in a variety of genres from traditional vampires and ghosts to crime noir and terror in outer space. Simply put, this is a must-have anthology. Now, if they would just bottle the water..." |
