At a glance the Slingshot doesn't look any wider or longer than the similarly sized Jester, Sweeper and Vault day packs from The North Face--and it isn't. The reason that the Slingshot offers more space is that it has over two inches of extra expandable width along the sides, giving it a carrying capacity of 2,000 cubic inches instead of the standard 1,850. The North Face also attached side compression straps to the front trampoline system so you can cinch down that extra width when you don't need it. All that extra load potential and control adds an additional five ounces to this pack compared to the slightly smaller designs, but you're not going to notice a difference when you're hauling around eighteen credits worth of reading material.

I really like the look of this backpack. My only complaint is that the straps seem a little off. Both straps tend to slide off my shoulders whenever I am walking to class.
