$500 got me a buggy console that I have already had to swap out. Save yourself the hassle and wait a year to buy one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great system! March 12, 2014

I have had absolutely no issues whatsoever with my Xbox One. The packaging is very professional and it protects the contents inside the box more than adequately. When I initially set-up my system, it required an internet connection, and it installed an update. The dashboard on the Xbox One definitely has a Windows 8 feel to it, what with the "tiles" and what not (though I will say that it is odd at first, several months down the road, navigating the Xbox One dashboard is seamless and is almost second nature). The Xbox One has great performance specifications and will continue to impress for a very long time to come. The improved Kinect is also very cool. Almost everything you do on the Xbox One can be done by voice command, and it is very user friendly. The unit itself is sleek and modern looking - and feels very well built and solid. Microsoft wants this to be pretty much an "all in one" media unit in people's living room. There is a HDMI passthrough built in to the Xbox One, which means that you can run other HDMI components through the Xbox One and to your TV (ie. Cable boxes, blu-ray players, etc.). There are a limited number of games out for the Xbox One at the moment, but obviously this will continue to change as time goes on. I will say, though, that for the games I have played, the graphics are stunning, and so is the fact that games can maintain such a high frame rate regardless of how much stuff is going on in the game (check out Dead Rising 3). I recommend this entertainment system to anyone that could be in the market for one. You won't regret it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible March 8, 2014

Had a very poor experience with ordering this. I had to send it back 2 times because each time I received it, it didn't work at all. Finally just got a refund and bought it elsewhere

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money I bought the day one edition January 24, 2014

Most households have smart tv's or smart Blu ray players the really didn't do anything good with this box save your money by a PS4 I haven't had a playstation since the first one came out. I have all three xboxes , games look like the 360. you have to wait and hour for each game you have to install game won't play unless you install. If you don't use the kinect most of the functions won't work practically none will work. They took away all the best of the 360 and put crappy windows 8 in it. No recent player list, hard to add a friend I wanted to give it a chance but wish I had returned it and I'm a gamer. The one good thing that came out of the one is the headset should have been redesigned for the xbox 360

5.0 out of 5 stars A Satisfied Customer - Thank you, Amazon January 16, 2014

I have bought my Xbox One for Christmas for my kids. I did watch some "unboxing" and test videos on the internet, so I knew what to expect.

The first thing you must do after connecting the cables and turning it on to download a big update. It takes a while... and after the progress bar finishes, you still must wait a few minutes (it seems it is stuck on the green welcome screen, but it is working in the background). Be patient.

My first console was broken (the controller always disconnected and was usable only via a mini USB cable or by standing only 6 feet away, front of the console). Amazon customer support is AMAZING, they have replaced my console and the "new" one is working properly, I can even go to the other room and the controller still does not disconnect.

A few tips:
If you connect your controller using a standard mini USB cable, you can use the controller in a wired mode, you do not even need batteries.
If you connect a USB keyboard before you turn the console on, it will detect and use it.
If your TV/monitor can handle it you can set your color space to get "darker" black colors in the display settings.
If you hold the main button for 10 seconds when turning it off (instead of tapping) it will flush the cache (in case you need it at all).
Under "Games" check the free downloadable demos! ;-)
