NOTHING IS SACRED [LP VINYL]

There are three things I've always remembered about this album since I first saw it in 1979 in Abilene, Texas.

First, the bitchin' album cover. Four very long-haired rough looking guys sitting on Harleys alluded to some very heavy music. Unfortunately, I was not able to buy the album at the time.

Second, from then on, I always thought this album was called "Take Me With You." Why that title stuck in my mind, I have no idea. It wasn't until 2008 that I discovered the title applied to an album by the Dutch band, The Cats. For years, I'd been searching the Internet for Take Me With You by The Godz, and now I know why I couldn't find it!

Third, is a review by some music guy back in the day. He was reviewing one of their albums (maybe this one) and called them a bunch of "tinny pukepots."

I found this vinyl album in a record store here in Las Vegas and just had to get it. The first thing I can say is this isn't bad at all for a bunch of tinny pukepots. These guys can rock. However, I think part of their problem was that the music didn't live up to the photos on the album cover. I was expecting something heavy and maybe even metal, but what I heard was just blues rock. In fact, I have a hard time even calling it hard rock, let alone any kind of metal. That being said, the more I listen to it, the more I like it.

The music, as I said, is mostly blues-based rock, or as some call it, "bar band" rock. Doesn't matter. I like it! Another strike against them was probably the misspelled song titles, ala Slade. I'm sure that didn't help their image any more than the biker thing. However, each song has an infectious groove that stays with me. Speaking of misspelled song titles, "Rock Yer Sox Auf" has such a muffled rhythm guitar sound, I'd swear it was actually recorded in a garage. However, I love the sound and it adds a different element to that song. There is one other track with a similar sound, but the title escapes me at the moment.

Whatever anyone has said in the past, I think this is great music. You have to get over the expectations of the album cover, but don't let that fool you. These guys knew how to rock in a unique way. Highly recommended.
