Nelma Jean Bryson spent her formative years in both the mountains of western North Carolina and the city of Houston, Texas. Her life experiences have been varied and plentiful. This background provides endless material for her writing. Born with a burning desire to put words to paper, Nelma penned poetry and school plays while a child. Finding herself a single mom, she returned to school and began a career in social work as an administrator of programs for at-risk youth. Health issues ended this career and opened the door for her to return to her passion for writing. Her medical autobiography was soon the first of her published works, followed closely by two novels.
