This stuff is great! Works as advertised: keeps ones eyes lubricated all night. One of my eyes has a damaged skin layer over the cornea, which happened years ago but only started bothering me when I moved to a climate that dries out the eyes. I used GenTeal Gel before this, but it didn't last all night. They are different chemical compounds, the gel being carbomer 980 and hypromellose in a base; whereas this Ointment is a simple mix of mineral oil and white petrolatum. One could even make it up himself from drugstore items, but, then, it wouldn't be sterile! The only con to this is that it affects your vision; you can't see clearly when it's in your eye. No problem if you're sleeping.

Thus, for night-time relief, this is what you want.

The product works as directed by my physician. The dry eye problem has been corrected. Still working on applying without wasting product. Be sure to use as going to bed because it will affect vision with the greasy film over eye for a while. Not to be used during the day.

Two years ago I got an abrasion on one of my eyes and after it healed, I would wake up with my eyes so dry they hurt. The doctor recommended I use GenTeal Night-time Ointment. What a difference it makes. For the past 2 years I've used this nightly. It keeps my eyes lubricated so they don't dry out as fast or bad as before. As another reviewer said, it does affect your eyesight so if you this in your eye and then want to read in bed, it might be a little difficult. This product is expensive for the small tube and since I use it daily I go thru them fast. I've tried other brands of similar product and always return to GenTeal night-time ointment. It does leave a greasy film around your eye but that doesn't bother me. The one con about this product is that it's very difficult to get the last of the ointment out of the tube. You can bend and twist the tube around to get it out but then it's difficult to get what squeezes out into your eye without contaminating it. Other than that, this is a great product.

I have sjogren's syndrome and suffer from severe painful dry eyes. With ointment acted like a barrier between my eye and the air. It quickly alleviated the dryness and most of the discomfort within 20 minutes. There was a brief moment of blurred vision (it isn't as bad as restasis. I wiped away excess ointment from my eye which helped clear up my vision. Within in a hour my eye felt normal again. I have severe dry eyes and need to use this every few hours but it works great! I highly recommend this product!

Ever since I had LASIK earlier this year, I have had a problem with dry eyes. The dry eyes don't bother me in terms of itchiness or anything but my distance vision is much affected when my eyes get dry. As a result, I apply lots of drops throughout the day and have tried different drops to keep my eyes comfortable. This stuff is the best before bed. I also love the GenTeal severe eye gel which is lubricating and goes in the eye more like drops but this pm gel works the best. When I use this pm gel before bedtime, my eyes wake up feeling great, not dry at all and I dont need to use drops much during the day. When I first bought this gel, I had some problems applying it and my eyes were greasy and the gel didn't make it into my eyes. I realized that I need to look in the mirror when applying and put a small bit right into my lower lid. After I figured that out,this stuff became the perfect night time stuff for my dry eyes. I love this stuff, try it if you have dry eyes.

If you have severe eye pain from mold or other irritants this is the best. Even the gel type didn't work for me. I place this between my eye and lid and it gives instant relief. I think for what it is the price is too high. The main I ingredient is petroleum jelly, you may be able to rub that is your eye for the same relief. I wouldn't do it but it seems logical since that's what is in this. You only get a tiny amount though so for the price it could be more. I dont see any other ingredient or reason it cost so much. But it works. Other brands do work just as well though. Currently im using refresh pm and it works every bit as good. And cheap at target. So main point is if you have severe eye pain get the night time eye ointment and you'll get much better relief.

My only complaint is that the box the gel was in came all smashed and ripped. The product itself is great. It does make your vision blurry at first, but goes away fairly quickly.
