This slim volume is a useful starting point for anyone wishing to
read some of the best criticism about American Indian writers of fiction and poetry. Your library
should have a copy. Momaday, Silko, Welch and Allen are just
a few you'll find discussed in this scholarly text

This work was completely written by Louis Owens. He was simply doing Colonnese a favor in listing him as co-author ("publish or perish" rules have created stranger bedfellows). This is an excellent early example of Owens' thorough scholarship. It is wonderful to observe that there are now many, many Indian authors who might be added to an updated version, were someone to pursue the project.
