Product Description
Crowned by a mysterious cat, this enigmatic personage acquires the powers of a feline. The slim, youthful figure wears a braided headband that dangles in front of his ears, and frowns beneath heavy eyebrows. This handsome terracotta mask by Ismael Diaz is inspired by those worn by pre-Hispanic priests. Infused with ancestral memories, it makes a bold addition to a primitive collection. The talented artisan began working with clay as a young boy. Aided by his wife, Diaz casts the clay in molds before firing the piece and applying acrylic paints. The rustic texture is achieved by baths of earth, giving the mask an authentically antique appearance. Because each mask is crafted individually by hand, there may be slight variations in color and dimensions. However, this only enhances and confirms the originality and authenticity of the piece.
