1.0 out of 5 stars very unprofessional
I would not recommend to buy from this seller. Bottle is not as pictured; it is not manufacture's packaging. Looks like somebody was filling it at home. First bottle leaked, got another one it leaked too. The most important - you don't really know what is in this bottle. Comes without any paperwork - very unprofessional.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality, but a caveat regarding Bergamot, April 14, 2011
This review is from: NOW Foods Bergamot Oil, 1 ounce (Health and Beauty)
Now's Bergamot oil is terrific and is one of the oils I keep in my olfactory paintbox of "necessary scents".

There is, however, one thing everyone using Bergamot on their skin should know: it can heighten sensitivity to sunlight. For some people, this becomes problematic. This may sound like the inverse of what is logical, as this oil is often used to treat skin conditions. It is, regardless, a fact that needs to be taken into consideration.

This is in no way particular to Now's formulation. It is simply a characteristic of the herb. True Bergamot, which this most certainly is, can increase photo-sensitivity. Only a synthetic version would fail to act in this way.

Dilution of the pure Essential Oil (which is typically recommended for a variety of purposes and reasons) will minimize the sensitivity somewhat in people who experience increased sensitivity to sunlight, but will not eliminate it entirely.

Thus, if you are new to Bergamot and find yourself becoming more sensitive to sunlight, it is not your imagination. It is important to know the attributes of oils and perfumes we wear on our skin or breathe within our environment.

Bergamot has a very uplifting quality, which makes it one of my own survival scents for gloomy, overcast winter weather. I make my own "air freshener" or add it to a heat source. In so doing, there is the sense of the sun breaking through the clouds. Scents can be so subtle and yet so powerful, we often overlook the way they influence our lives. There are still people in the world who believe that aromatherapy is "utter nonsense" because they don't make the connection between scent and emotion or mood. They react, but don't understand or accept that an aroma is what created the change. Ah, well.

Bergamot is also a fine insect repellent, should you find the scent of Citronella or Geranium offensive. It has a "gender-neutral" quality that even very macho males will quite often not find objectionable.

I purchased this brand "Now Foods" Bergamont essential oil at a local store. I regularly purchase this brand online and have a collection of their oils. It smells nice and pure....it lasts a long time. it is good quality and I use it in my aromatherapy humidifier/diffuser and with my clients.
