Customer Reviews

I know, it's not, but it really tastes so bitter.
Danielle P.
Brewer's yeast does not contain vitamin B12, an essential vitamin found in meat, fish or dairy products.
NYFB
After sweetening, it actually tasted good with organic soy milk or almond milk.

After 40 years of taking many brands of Brewers yeast regularly and recommending it to anyone who would listen, I never expected to find a forumlation that is comletely unpalatable. The taste of this brand is so foul, the manufacturer should be ashamed to put their label on it!

I've only been eating brewer's yeast for about 5 months as I take it to increase milk supply while breast feeding, so I haven't tried many brands. However, I had been using the Swanson's brand, but unfortunately didn't plan ahead and was going to run out so I ordered this using my Prime membership. Huge mistake; this stuff tastes disgusting. I mix 2 tablespoons in with oatmeal every morning for breakfast (along with 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal). I can barely taste the Swanson's brand in my oatmeal, maybe a slight taste and smell. This stuff is disgusting and I couldn't even finish my oatmeal. I don't know how they claim that it is debittered, because it is gross. The Swanson's brand tastes better AND is cheaper. I definitely don't think anyone should buy this for human consumption!

I don't know what I am going to do with this. I regret not buying another brand for just $2 more. The taste is terrible. I haven't tried any other brand, but this one is very hard to swallow! Should I give it to my cat in cookies?

I used to buy another Brewers Yeast product, but decided to try this as it is Prime, and sounded like it would taste great. The other tasted OK, but I expected improvement. Mostly I use it as an additive to drinks, for extra nutrition.
Well!, when I tried this one it tasted so bad, I had to throw out the entire batch of drink.
Frankly I can't imagine how anyone can use it, so I ended up throwing out the can.

It's a gigantic bottle of brewer's yeast at a good price. I'll be making lactation cookies forever with it. At first, fresh from the oven, the cookies have a definite "beer" taste and smell, but that fades quickly and they're just plain yummy and full of milk-making mojo. It has an expiration date, but freezing it keeps it fresh much longer.

Oh my goodness I wish I'd read the reviews before buying it. I'm trying to up my milk production because the pump is not getting enough to make up for what my daughter is plowing through in daycare. I'm choking down my oatmeal this morning. This is actually tripping my gag reflex, so I mean choking literally. I had to add some sweetener to it. I never have to do that. And the sweetener isn't helping.

The weird thing is that I love beer, and moreso, I love IPAs, so bitter is something that I can work with and enjoy, but this is just awful. It's like mixing your oatmeal with stale beer. I guess I'll try shooting it tomorrow in water.

I don't know if it works. It has to if it's this gross, right? I think each bite is getting worse and the taste is making it difficult to eat fast. Also, the taste lingers, so it's not even like you can wash it down with some water and wait a second. It gets kind of bilious after a minute or so.

SEEMS LIKE THEY FORGOT TO DEBITTER THIS OTHERWISE EXCELLENT PRODUCT

While I have found one can get use to the awful taste of this particular brand of Brewer's Yeast, other brands, such as Twin Labs offer a more palatable product for less. This is the only "NOW" product to date that has been a disappointment. In essence, what good is it if it ruins the taste of anything you put it in. I can stand it, but the rest of my family typically stops taking Brewer's Yeast until I get the Twin Labs product. I would have given it 4 stars, since after all it is a terrific food supplement, [just with an awful taste], except it is uncharacteristically expensive compared to the "NOW" brands usual high value at very reasonable cost.

NOW Brand has historically been a bargain brand. But their Nutritional Yeast Powder is the yummy-tasting Red Star brand. They even state it on the bottle. If you want good tasting Yeast, you may have confused their Brewer's Yeast with their Nutritional Yeast Powder? I know because I've done this. Hope this helps!
