Product Description

Size: 2.2 Pounds

Creatine Monohydrate is a naturally occurring compound found in the human body and obtained in the diet primarily from meat and fish. Creatine is a popular supplement among active individuals because of its ability to serve as an energy reservoir, especially during intense physical exertion. During short, intense bursts of activity, the body breaks down adenosine triphosphate (ATP) into adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and phosphate for energy. Creatine helps the body convert ADP back to ATP, providing greater amounts of ATP for energy, which may increase short-term endurance and strength. Creatine can also be stored for later use by cells, creating the "energy reservoir" active individuals desire.* NOW® Creatine Monohydrate is 100% pure and contains no additives or preservatives. Creatine may be especially useful for those doing short-term, intense exercise, such as weight lifting, football, basketball, swimming, skiing and cycling.

100% pure creatine monohydrate with no fillers.
Max Power
It doesn't mix well with water and doesn't taste particularly good on its own, but it's good as part of a post workout protein shake.

My opinion, it's just a new name so they can make new claims, of course they are going to say it is somehow better.

I don't really know what else to say. It's creatine. About 2.2 pounds of it.

Others have mentioned that it's sandy or gritty. It is a bit. Unfortunately, that is just how creatine is.

The solubility of creatine in room temperature water:

13.3 grams per liter of water.

which is equivalent to

3.15 grams per 8 oz glass of water

If you're taking the recommended dose of 5 grams, then your 8 oz glass of water is going to dissolve at most 3.15 grams of creatine, leaving almost 2 grams of grit floating about in your drink.

I've read that the undissolved creatine powder can cause osmotic pressure across your intestinal membrane, forcing water from your intestines into your stool potentially resulting in gastrointestinal upset or diarrhea. I'm not sure if a couple grams of creatine can create that kind of effect, but if you're experiencing unpleasant side effects, you might try mixing it into more liquid, hotter liquid, or use less powder at a time.

Either way, if you mix 5 grams of creatine with 8 oz of cold tap water, a significant amount won't dissolve.

The cap was broken when it arrived... kind of annoying. Can't say whose fault it was, though, so 5 stars for being what it's supposed to be.

I am a HUGE skeptic when it comes to athletic supplements. I'm a very skinny/slim build Asian who towers over most of my brethren in a crowd and all my life I've dreaded going to the gym because I look rather ridiculous struggling to life a 5LB dumbbell. Ok that was a joke but my weakness is definitely something to laugh about. As a type this neat review and continue to procrastinate on my final paper regarding the aspects of poverty and the required policies to counter it, I've noticed that my performance at the gym has exploded. Now, before you start getting out your credit card or Amazon gift card, because it's Christmas!, allow me to point out that the muscle acquisition curve is very high for beginning gym goers. This basically means that a sting-bean couch potato such as myself can gain noticeable strength and stamina because......I HAD NONE TO START WITH!
That being said, I would not disregard the correlation between my using this product and my being able to swim a mile at the gym in a mere three months of working out. It was very hard to believe when I didn't reach my level of fatigue at the usual 20 laps in the pool. In fact, it sort of startled me greatly when I realized I was swimming about 6 times further than when I started three months ago. I do believe this product has lent itself greatly to my gaining speed and endurance. So, as I sit here dreading my inevitable return to my paper, I smile at my toned body. I see muscle where there was none and a general sense of well being. Don't believe me? Try it out.

I bought this on the recommendation of a friend and could not be more pleased with it. I'm only about a week into taking it, but I feel so much more energy than when I'd take 2 creatine pills from GNC prior to working out.

The instructions suggest taking it 3x a day for the first 28 days, then once a day/ before workouts. During my exercising I find that I have more energy and can maintain cardio activity (running, rowing machine, jump rope) far better than I could before. I'm pushing 40 and have never felt better.

It is a bit gritty and doesn't dissolve well. I put a teaspoon into 20 ounces of water and there's usually a fair amount settling. I just swish it around the whole time I'm drinking it and get 95% of it, so that doesn't bother me. Best of all, there is ZERO taste to it, so I can take it in plain old water if there's nothing fruity/ juicy on hand.

To have a product this good, that keeps me from having to venture into some douche-filled mall just to find a GNC and get raked over on price for an inferior product, is invaluable to me.

As an avid weight lifter, I have been using creatine on a daily basis for about 10 years. I notice a significant size and strength increase, probably somewhere in the 5-10% range of my normal strength/size.

As an aside, I don't only take this for its benefits on my muscles. There are quite a few articles on the internet about how creatine helps to decrease depression, Alzheimer disease, and overall cognitive ability. While I haven't really noticed a direct benefit, keep in mind that I've been using it daily for so long that I can't remember life without it.

Dosing: A lot of "bro-science" suggests that you should take creatine with fruit juice. I take it with water and its effects are the same.

PRO TIP: Forget the loading phase. It's been proven that it's unnecessary and 5 grams is already a sufficient amount. There's no reason to "prime" your body. Just Google "creatine loading phase unnecessary".

Enjoy!

I have used this product for three weeks (3x per week) and get terrible gas pressure and pain throughout the day each and every time and suffer severe gastrointestinal discomfort. I never have these issues normally and it is remarkable how long the symptoms last after each time I've used this (throughout the day). I mix it only with water and blend it thoroughly in a shaker cup and have thoroughly tracked my diet because of the side effects. Perhaps this works for many people, but I do not have a sensistive stomach, and have taken a variety of supplements without any side effects like this. My advice would be to start with a small purchase on this item.
