5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh, wonderfully textured Macadamia Nuts
These were a really great deal on Amazon so I decided to try this brand of Macadamia nuts. 3.0 out of 5 stars Great price

I normally prefer the Mauna Loa brand since these nuts have a little too much salt for my taste. However, the NOW Foods brand was significantly less expensive so be sure to shop around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh, wonderfully textured Macadamia Nuts, July 13, 2010

These were a really great deal on Amazon so I decided to try this brand of Macadamia nuts. Macadamia's are hard to find in NY besides the classic Mauna Loa Dry Roasted Macadamias with Sea Salt, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 3). In fact, we had a bag of the Mauna Loa and a bag of the NOW Foods nuts and compared them side to side. Although I like the idea of sea salt on the Mauna Loa Macadamia nuts, I found that the Mauna Loa nuts were roasted too much and were darker and smokier flavored. Perhaps it is a matter of preference but I liked these NOW Foods much better than the more commercial nuts. Price and quantity aside they just seemed much fresher, better textured and better tasting. They lacked that smoky flavor from over-roasting. These nuts were lighter in color, large and succulent. That flaky, delicious Macadamia nut texture was there in all it's glory.

I love them and will be buying more. Perfectly fresh and delivered fresh (I put them straight in the refrigerator to keep them that way given the heat lately).

5.0 out of 5 stars YUMMY!, May 30, 2010

My kids have never eaten these. We have peanut allergy, and it is difficult to locate tree nuts that are not processed with peanuts. I checked NOW Foods website, it indicates they do not process any peanuts in any of their facilities. The company recognizes the extreme allergy risk and does not handle peanuts. WHO-HOO!!!!

I must say best macs I have ever eaten! Ok, it has been over 3 years since we could have them in our home. My kids love eating them. First bites were greated with smiles and asking me for more.

Expensive, but worth it since they are peanut free. I made brownies with macs in them last weekend. Super tasty.

Of course, check before you buy about current peanut processing.

Now macadamia Nuts are delicious. If you haven't tried them bfore, they are worth waiting for. Amazon doesn't always have them available, but when they do, order them quickly. You won't regret it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Salt Overload, May 24, 2011

The excess salt ruins the nuts. I enjoy salt like the next guy but this borders on idiocy. Last time I had something this salty was in 1985, Octoberfest in Munich eating a chicken that was drenched in the stuff. It's really too bad because the nuts are very good quality and the price is great for the amount you get. This would be 5 stars easy if the stuff had only a moderate amount of salt. I know washing them will get rid of most of the salt but who wants to do that. Plus they get waterlogged. Shaking them doesn't have much effect either. Now if NOW just made unsalted...

I normally buy the Mauna Loa brand but decided to try these based on the price and previous reviews. I personally don't notice that they are too salty as some reviewers have mentioned. They taste fresh and they are perfectly roasted. I think the NOW brand Macadamia Nuts are not only good but are a good value. I will buy them again and I do recommend them for purchase.

The nuts taste fresh from the opening of thee bag until the last one has been eaten.
I shop frequently at Amazon.com the safe and secure use of a credit card is encouraging.
Since I purchase 7 gifts for my family at Christmas I choose gift cards for each of the 7 from
Amazon.

These are okay, but not as good as the ones I normally pick up at our local warehouse store, and nowhere near as good as the Azar Nut Company ones I got on Amazon for my last order. It wasn't worth it to save a few bucks. Macadamias seem to go rancid very easily, and while these don't taste "off", I don't think they are as fresh as the Azar brand. Those are excellent!

These have good texture, but they are way too salty. They are so salty, they're hard to eat. Also, every now and then, I taste a rotten one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely great Macadamias! And at a great price point!, September 24, 2010

Bought Mauna Loa sea salted and honey roasted and like them a lot. Mauna Loa has lots of whole nuts and great flavor. But at a premium price! These nuts are more half pieces, but the flavor is close to the Mauna Loa's and IMHO the saltniness is a bit better. Wife likes the Mauna Loa, but grabs a handful of these as her first choice. Price-wise, you can get four 12oz bags of these nuts for the price of three 12oz bags of Mauna Loa. Wish these were available for automatic shipping!
