Good book, but annoying print due to the PAPER !,

The NRSV itself is a pretty good Bible version. And, it is nice that these new "Go-Anywhere" editions may put this version into more hands. The quality of the finished product is very good, EXCEPT for the paper. The paper is not opaque enough. When you look at a page, you can see print from the other side and it is VERY annoying and distracting.

I grew up reading the NIV version of the Bible and was interested in reading a different version. Supposedly the NRSV is the most accurate version translated into English from the ancient texts, and is used by Ann Rice, Jim Wallis, etc. I found the thin paper to be a little hard to read at first, but adjusted easily-it's no worse/better than my mini-sized NIV Bible published by Zondervan. I do like the longer pages that fit more text and allow more fluid reading-and I don't squint to read it. The leather bound cover/binding is durable and not overly ornate. I ride the bus a lot, and find it easy to carry in my gym bag. It has a Concordance, but no table of weights and measures--maybe the translation has adjusted these for contemporary use, but it's defintiely a utilitarian Bible that I'll carry w/ me when commuting or travelling--not to mention sharing with those who want to know more!

The Go-Anywhere Bible lives up to its name o.k. As a quick reference while writing at my computer, I'm finding it useful for looking up brief passages. And that's how I use it. The small print requires good vision or good reading glasses. For me, the print is too small for lengthy reading sessions.

Go-Anywhere Bible (NRSV),

I bought this Bible to take with me when I go and visit people for pastoral visits. It is beautifully made. The print is small and the paper is thin, which is why it is so lightweight. The concordance at the back is great for when you need to look up a verse without knowing its reference. It wouldn't work for people who can't read small print, but for everyone else it is great - lightweight and very portable.

I love this Bible. It's small, easy to put in my bag and just go. The pages are a little thin so you can see the words on the back page. That is my only complaint. But the binding is soft and flexible and it's just really easy to take along anywhere. It is tall for a small Bible, but I like that better than my small Bible. I would definitely recommend this Bible to anyone who prefers the NRSV and wants it in a small version.

Wonderful layout and design. I love the look and feel of the binding, which is truly pleasurable to hold. The typeface is legible and even elegant. I really wanted to like this bible! However, all of the great decisions made by the layout and design team were undone the moment the stock they chose was SO thin that you can see the print on the other side of the page. This makes for very muddy reading. Blurry even. (sigh)
