I'm hesitant to write this review, because I don't want the supply of these headphones to dry up if they aren't being manufactured anymore. They are the same OEM as Monoprice 8323's, a highly regarded headphone. I could write about how they sound, and they do sound amazing, but plenty is written about the 8323's. (Kicker HP541's are also identical)
What sets these apart from the 8323:

1. Velour earpads and headband- very very comfortable, huge improvement over the pads that come with the 8323. Many 8323 owners spend >$20 on a set of velours alone.

2. Cord- Superior in every way to the flimsy monoprice cord, thicker and cloth wrapped.

3. Finish- Very nice matte finish on the cups, feels very premium. The indents in the cups have a brushed aluminum badge instead of a printed logo. Decal Girl decals for the kicker HP 541 and Monoprice 8323 fit these badges perfectly also.

4. Value- You get all this for less than the price of a Monoprice 8323. Less. Oh and there's a storage bag too.

Since the Amazon page is broken , here are the actual specs:

50mm Drivers
40 Ohm impedance
18Hz-20kHz Frequency Response

i just got thes last night. these are my 2nd purchase of headphones this month. (the other was the shure 840s.) no one has givin a complete review except a longwinded review on youtube. so here goes. i am not happy w/every aspect of these phones. i almost rated em 4 stars. but i am basing my review based on my comparison w/my shure 840s....(which are $ 135) 1st....lets talk sound..... they re pretty damn good. (thats my opinion) i compared these to my shure 840s and they re close.....not equal to be sure...but same ball park...and at $28 i think on sound quality alone they re deserving of 5 stars. as said....they are v. close to performance to the shure 840s...but when i listen to gin and juice...its really nice w/these...BUT w/the shure 840s you re there w/ snoop...you can feel the chick on the chorus singin next to him. the instruments are alive ...hearing every every breath and swipe of guitar string. w/these headtrip....its close but you re just not at the party. i think thats the best way to put it. the fit is excellent. they took time to make these wonderfully comfy. also they re half the weight of the bulky heavy shure 840s. i wont talk about how they look coz each to his/her own. and im not gettin into it w/ the comments like " oh i like these but the "headtrip" logo looks dumb." well, look homie....take the sticker off your friends DRE's....and you ll b illin in no time. they fold up pretty nicely and w 2 cords THAT DETACH....you will avoid the noid of pullin these from your car seat and gettin the cord tangled around something and then you gotta go thru that game?.....not w/these....you watch...you gonna like this feature...ALOT. now on to the things i dont like about em. sadly..they dont cover the ear.Read more ›

I wasn't expecting much for under $50 but I was shocked at the quality of the product I received. The sound is awesome..not too bottom heavy, but good thump, clear mids and crisp highs...not shrill at all. The velour like ear pads are beyond comfortable. Actually comes with two sizes of detachable cables for different uses (4ft and 11ft) A++

I have now bought two sets of headphones over the past month. First, a set of Monoprice 8323 since I had heard such great things about them. Once I had those in hand the mod bug hit me and I started looking for ways to improve comfort and quality. So while searching for velour ear pads I was led to this set of phones boasting a set of velours for cheaper than the price of any aftermarket ones I was looking at. I ordered a set immediately mostly for the pads, but secondly for comparison purposes.

As soon as I had the NXG phones in hand I listened to both as a reference point and then swapped pads between the two to test the effect on the sound. What I found is that any sound differences as have been discussed in other reviews can be attributed directly to the ear pads. both sets of headphones with either the vinyl or the velour pads had the exact same sound signature as the other set with the same pads installed.

As it turns out, I ended up favouring the original vinyl pads for both comfort and sound. Now, having made a decision about the pads I wanted, I made the decision to make the NXG pair my primaries and installed the vinyl pads on them. I prefer the finish on the NXG set over the 8323s. The cans have a nice matte finish with a good looking brushed metal looking insert.

I have also opened both sets of phones up to do a comparison on the drivers. There are no indicative numbers of any sort on the drivers to make a definitive declaration that they are the same but they look and sound identical when using the same pads. Enough so, that I am confident in saying they are the same thing.

While I had them opened up I installed some sound deadening material to the inside faces of the cans and also some damping within the enclosures.
