i am a big fan of louie devito and have most of his cds, nyc 1-6, dance factory 1-2, trance sessions, ultra dance 4, ect, and kept waiting for this cd to come out. i love most of his cds and thought this would be a great cd. his last few cds werent that great, like dance divas and df2 so i hoped this one would bring him back up to par...i was wrong. disc one is full of songs that are on just about every dance compilation that just came out and disc 2 is full of tracks from his old cds. the tracks on disc 1, the main floor, have a little bit of a housey feel and some of them arent too bad, but overall they are horrible. as for disc 2, i wouldve liked this cd 3 or 4 years ago, thats how old most of the tracks are, some older. if you are into trance or vocal dont buy this cd. if u are into house, the tracks are pretty bad, but hey, if u like old anthems, buy the mix for disc 2. im giving 2 stars just because louie used to make good cds and hes good live. i recommend you buy dj tiesto nyana for a good 2 disc set

Louie DeVito releases his sixth installment in a dying franchise. What once was a series that hooked curious new listeners into dance/club/techno music and its subculture has devolved into a franchise that unrelentingly pushes out the worst musical garbage that mainstream dance-pop has to offer. NYCUP 6 continues in this tradition, serving up an awful regurgitation of played-out tunes, otherwise forgettable anthems, and just plain bad dance music. The only decent song in this otherwise bland collection would be Insomnia by Faithless, but even that track is over five years old and its novelty has worn off....

Instead of releasing a new album every so many months, why don't you just wait for a bunch of good techno songs and then release an album with those? For instance get a little DJ Sammy, Iva Van Dahl, Lasgo & Sarina Paris and make a collection of those songs instead of flooding them with horrible excuses for songs. The album however has one of the greatest songs ever made, "Something Happened on the Way to Heaven" by Deborah Cox which is worth the price of the CD alone. But I recommend that you get Cox's remix album instead because it also has "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here", "Mr. Lonely" & "Absolutely Not" all of which were #1 dance singles, just as "...Heaven" was.

This is similiar to the other NYC Underground Cds. Some of the songs may be a little played out by now...you've heard them many times at clubs/bars, but most are worth having. E-Samba, Serenity & I'd Say Yes are AMAZING. The second Cd (older mixes & anthems) is a nice bonus. Who doesn't love Ectasy & Ride The Trip??? If you have any of the other NYCs you might as well pick this one up too!

Louie Devito is best known for his NYC Underground Party series and he's just released volume six. His past two albums "Dance Factory Level Two" and "Ultra Dance 04" are great, but his NYCUP series is kind of slipping. He hit it big with volumes three and four and volume five got some credit. Now there's a pattern forming in his NYCUP series and I don't think I like it. Usually I listen to it for myself before I buy it, but I only bought this because I went to get it signed by him and he's a better DJ than this.NYC Underground Party Volume Six is divided into two different discs. Disc one is called "Main Floor" which has new songs and disc two is called "Anthems" which has club classics. I'm honestly glad for disc two because there's songs I'm at least used to. "Main Floor" has songs like "How Did You Know" by Kurtis Mantronik, "E-Samba" by Junior Jack, "Alert" by Antoine Clamaran, "My Time" by Dutch with Crystal Waters, "Hollywood" by BBE, "Let's Get Ill" by P. Diddy, and others. I first heard "My Time" on the radio and was overjoyed, but now that I have the song, it's odd how I'm not proud. "Hollywood" was pretty repetitive. And what was it with "Airport" by Armani & Ghost? "Airport" must have the easiest composition ever. Also, Yomanda's "You're Free" is an rip-off of Ultra Nate. "Main Floor" ain't all bad. I like "I Engineer" by 2 DJs and One, "How Did You Know", "Alert", and I still like "My Time". "Anthems" has club classics like "Ecstasy" and "Take Your Shirts Off" by Johnny Vicious, "Do It Again" by Razor 'N' Guido, "Meet Her At The Love Parade" by Hana, "Why Don't You Dance With Me" by Future Breeze and others. Razor N' Guido were awesome when they released "Do It Again". That was one of my Worcester Ice Cats* anthems back in 2000 (I don't know why). I've heard Da Hool's version of "MHATLP" but not Hana's. It sounds like the only two instruments playing are a drum machine and a Gameboy. I remember "Fright Train" by Robbie Tronco. I used that song in a prank once. It was funny. And Faithless' "Insomnia" is in it as well, and I remember all the lyrics from the default version of "Insomnia" (every lyric from the original). If this slump continues, I might by only two more albums in the NYCUP series if volumes seven and eight are ever to be released. His other albums (Dance Factory, Ultra Dance, etc.) are doing alright. *a hockey team in the AHL (Ameriacn Hockey League)

I have NYC Underground Party, volumes 3,4 & 5. But, only if I had known, I would not have bought volume 6. I usally don't even listen to Louie DeVito's mixes first before I buy them, because his past CD mixes were awesome, that there was no need to. I should have sampled the volume 6 mix. The first CD has songs that I have never even heard before, except Engineer & Airport are not bad. The second CD has songs that are about 5-6 years old, and I have most of them already. Poor Job Louie! This CD is Dooty!

Sadly, Sadly disappointed,

Read any of my other reviews for Louie's cd's, and you'll see nothing but beaming, raving reviews. I have everything he's ever made, and I've NEVER been disappointed. I ran out to the mall today to buy Underground Volume 6, popped it in the car stereo before [I] was even in the car seat.. and I hate to say it, but I was a little disappointed. I've never even HEARD of half the stuff on the first cd.. and to be perfectly honest, disc 2 was totally unnecessary. It's just a couple of songs from his past cd's.. like, ok, whats the point in that? Disc 1 does have a few good songs.. like I engineer, Despina Vande, Something happened on the way to heaven, how did you know, and my time. But the rest of it is just, for lack of a better word, crap. If you're a die hard Louie fan like me, then get the CD. But if not, and I feel horrible saying this, but dont waste your money.

Washed Up!,

This Cd is not worth buying, Louie Devito had pumped out what he had in Vol. 4-5 and just fell off. All of these tracks are more like commercial and over played tracks which I've heard months before. BORING!!!! I thought this was underground. On One hand i would like to thank louie for turning me off of this his so called Dance music and turning to the Tribal/House/Electro Genre... check out Ivano Bellini, Oscar G. Surham's Dubai, Azuli's line of Creme Ibiza... You'll get your money's worth. Not this garbage DJ.

I understand what u guys are saying about how some stuff on the cd is from the 1st underground, but seriously, they dont make good club songs like that anymore. all of the new stuff sounds so much the same. i was so happy to hear the old songs like ecstasy and take your shirts off! they are awesome and it felt good to hear the old stuff. like i said, nothing is that good anymore, and louie has been able to take us back into memory land with the old anthems. i still bump nyc underground 1!! dance factory level 2 is soooooooo great!!!! thats like 10 stars. i listen to that everyday in my car and on the way to the club. i like devito. he brings back good memories of mine. i dont think he has become so popular and famous that he doesnt have time to look thru the music as someone said. i think the music just isnt out there anymore. DJS, PLEASE MAKE SOME MORE ANTHEMS!

This CD N.Y.C. Underground Party volume 6 is one that you must have. It takes you into the clubs that plays the best music and has the best atmosphere and it's on 2 Disc's. Mixologist LOUIE DEVITO is the super mixing DJ on this 2 Disc CD that features the best mixes from past and current hits. Disc 1 is called the MAIN FLOOR. There you will find DUTCH f. CRYSTAL WATERS and the huge hit from last summer "My Time" along with "Let's Get I'll " by P. DIDDY f. KELIS . 16 tracks of non stop mixing with blends so smooth it will make you cry! The bonus is on Disc 2 called ANTHEMS, has 15 more tracks that are almost guaranteed to get you dance floor moving. Super hit's like "Fright Train" by ROBBIE TRANCO, "HANDS UP" (This Is The Police) by SAL DANO and "Insomnia" by FAITHLESS. Hat's off to LOUIE DEVITO and the NYC Underground Party 6, Now you can party in your car on the way to the club.
