It also keeps the system surprisingly cool and quiet.

The only thing that could make this better is having modular cables so you can install only what you need.

A few months ago I picked up an new PC for my home office. I was pleased with everything in that pre-built system (processor, graphics card, etc), however I wanted to max out the RAM and upgrade the 300W power supply. The RAM I upgraded the day I brought the system home, the power supply I just now replaced, after having the system a few months.

The power supply arrived in a huge heavy box, so right away I wondered if it was going to fit in my mid-sized tower. After pulling out the old power supply and setting this new one inside, I was pleased to see it fit like a glove. There are a good number of included cables, many more than necessary for the typical setup, but perfect for building a powerful gaming system. They've even included some zip-ties for help with your cable management. And with the size of these cables, you're going to need them. They are well insulated and have a woven mesh like casing over each of them, which adds quite a bit to the bulk. While the power supply itself will fit in smaller cases, the number and bulk of the cables would probably overwhelm any slim case set-up.

Each of the cables attached to their corresponding devices without issue and my computer booted up on the first try. It runs virtually silent, and I've not heard any clicking or any other noises of any kind from the fan. It's one of the quietest power supplies I've owned. It's a very powerful unit and it has plenty of cables for any kind of system build you're planning on designing.

I know I suck at video reviews but you can hear how quiet the power supply is. :)

Big update: after writing this review I read a few more reviews online who said that there was ripple issues on the 3.3 volt if the temperatures went over the 95F the power supply was rated for. A number of reviews around June 2012 said this. I called NZXT and they said a revision was done in August 2012 and that the power supply shipped to me in late October was definately in the new lot. They said the ripple issue was fixed. They said their warranty would cover component damage if there was any harm done by the un-revised supplies. I guess I would have liked to hear that there was a full recall. But, wow, talk about a company maning up--admiting the issue and taking responsibility for it! First of all, it was super quick to talk to someone. Second, they were knowledgable and did not follow a script. Third, they knew and admited that there was an issue. Fourth, they said they would go above and beyond the warranty if there was an issue. I'm definately suggesting NZXT to my friends! If you've ever made with a support call for computer components, you'd know how different this call was than your average computer company support call!!!

I really like this power supply. There are plenty of cables and plenty of power. The only problem I have is that the Hale82 750w (without the N in the model) is better: partially modular and all Japanese caps. The non-N version also has a DC-DC design where this one has schottky rectifiers. I have no idea what I just said but I understand that DC-DC is better. The problem with buying this "N" model is that the better one is just around ten schmucks more.

This appears to be a well made power supply and if you read the in depth reviews on it, electrically speaking it tests out really well. It also claims to have intelligent fan control with two modes: performance and silent. Unfortunately mine only seemed to run in Performance mode. It was louder than all of my case fans plus the CPU fan (even if I turned them on full speed). I didn't have anything overclocked and the temp in my case was cool so there was no reason for the fan on this power supply to be running full tilt. I wouldn't doubt it was defective but I didn't feel like exchanging it only to find out that a new one did the same.

Also, don't buy this if you're planning on doing any really nice cable management in your case. You definitely want a modular PSU for that. The cables on this thing are really nicely sheathed and are also very long. I also would be leary of NZXT's support. I opened a case about the noise and they never contacted me back. By the time I was able to chat with somebody online to complain about the fact that they had never contacted me, I was fed up enough to return it to Amazon. Amazon of course was awesome as they always are with returns. FYI - I replaced this with a Corsair Professional Series HX 750 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold (HX750), which I am 100% satisfied with.

I bought this for about $20 to replace a fried PSU on an old Win XP computer, which I converted into Win 7. It didn't fit at first but I bent a few things in the chassis and made it fit. This PSU has A LOT OF WIRES, like 6 SATA, 4 MOLEX, the ATX connector, and some other ones (it's somewhat like that, just guessing). If you have some legacy (old) stuff, it might be overkill, but the reason that I got it was to replace a PSU, not to build a new computer. Anyways, this PSU is very high quality stuff, with protected wires, and a good solid metal casing. It comes with a few zip ties if you were wondering what else was in the box.
