3.0 out of 5 stars a different 112....
After patiently waiting for a new cd from 112, i was surprised to find out that one had been released in July 2003 without my knowledge. I would have thought it would be all over the radio...but no....after listening to the single "Na Na Na" i could sort of see why...its a new 112, very different from the past, which normally I would think was good. I love when bands try...

3.0 out of 5 stars a different 112...., September 17, 2003

This review is from: Na Na Na / To The Crib (Audio CD)
After patiently waiting for a new cd from 112, i was surprised to find out that one had been released in July 2003 without my knowledge. I would have thought it would be all over the radio...but no....after listening to the single "Na Na Na" i could sort of see why...its a new 112, very different from the past, which normally I would think was good. I love when bands try to explore new directions and sounds with their music, but for some reason it doesn't fly here. They seem to be on a new reggae kick or something... the "Na Na Na" hook is very catchy and very "vintage" 112
"na na na na
you don't know what you're doing to me,
girl you're looking so sexy"
But the rest of the song is filled with a reggae/dancehall vibe that they just don't need at all. I know that with Sean Paul and several other dancehall artists making it big now the temptation to sample some reggae flavor is pretty big, but 112 just doesn't need it and shouldn't have hopped on the reggae bandwagon. Don't get me wrong...this new song isn't bad by any means, its just a little too diferent and seems to forced from a quartet of guys who have relied on their own strong vocals for success in the past. I doesn't help that the Amazon clip of this song starts of and is mostly the reggae rap portion of the song...give this song a try, you'll either love it or hate it....as for me, i think i'll have to let it grow on me.....

At last the wait is over, 112's new single is out and it does not live up to expectations. Their first single under the wings of Def Jam isn't that bad, but its nothing compared to what this quartet are capable of. However the original remix isn't even on this single, its some remix with loads of reggae on, I was really let down with this, but I hoped that the 2nd song would save them. It doesn't, Slim, Daron Q and Mike are all struggling for lyrics when they get 1:30 into the song. So all Im saying is, I cant wait for Jagged Edges new album, Ive heard their single and its hot.

This song is NOT THEM. It totally does not fit their persona. I was disappointed to hear this as their first single after their long hiatus from the spotlight. Now, they're not even in the spotlight. I've been following 112 since 1996 and this is not the 112 I fell in love with. I still bought their album "Hot & Wet" and let me just say that 112 could have picked a better song to release as their first single from the new album... Any song but this one. Skip out on this single and just buy the album. There's way more better songs on there. Even "To The Crib" didn't make it to the final cut of the CD cuz the song is garbage! Please believe me when I say I am a 112 fan, it's just that I'm sooooooo not feeling this horrible wannabe-reggae song.

I love this song. One of my favorite workout tunes. I'm a big Reggae/Dancehall fan, so having Super Cat on the cut was an added bonus.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its okay, August 12, 2003

I loved this song at first, but I suddenly got tired of it, which is weird for me because I never get tired of any of 112's songs. Although this song is alright, I just think that they could have done a lot better. I just hope that their album isn't a disappointment.

This is a Hot new track from 112. What I like about it besides the reggae music is the fact that its different for them and have legendary reggae star supercat on the track to back them up. This will be playing in the clubs for a while....get it!

I guess this is supposed to make 112 more known (COMMERCIAL) by displaying them with a more "hip-hop/reggae" sound but this isn't 112, at least not the 112 fans know. Puff knew what he was doing by keeping them R&B cause that's what suits them. "Na Na Na" is alright, it'll help them sell records but this is NOT 112 at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars what the hell is this??, October 18, 2003

I was a big fan of 112 till'they launched the (Part III) because it is 2 commercial and the album has 3 good songs, and 1 or 2 listenable, and i thought that it was only a bad period of 112, but after i heard they new songs i think that 112 is a piece of sh*t and i dont give a damn the other revierwers who say that 112 is still good, because they can't admit that 112 only has respect but not talent, but if you want to waste your money, go and pick this piece of garbage.
So i can say that i wont buy this sh*t, because i prefer to pick the new JE's album, and i'm sure that is a lot better

It's been damn near two years, but there still the same 112. Daron never does the same thing twice; all his tracks are unique and perfect for the songs. I only wish they would've put a slow song on here.
